Kareth, the Trickster God

Act Unto ThySelf

Kareth the Trickster God is a revered deity among rogues, bards, and other cunning individuals throughout Paeforia. Deeply rooted in the feywild, Kareth embodies the unpredictable and chaotic essence of the natural world, delighting in mischief and trickery for their own amusement. Followers of Kareth view their deity as a master of disguise (although He often takes what many see to be His true form: that of a Satyr), a mischievous spirit who is always one step ahead, acting out of his own will to prosper and enact chaos in His name. They believe that Kareth's cunning and wit are to be admired and emulated, and through pledging their service to Him, they may be granted divine spells to use how they wish.   Kareth is also the god of good-natured greed, acting only to further His own godhood and to enjoy Himself. Often depicted at the center of drunken orgies, He is the patron saint of hedonism. His eye often finds those who act similarly throughout Paeforia and will try to bind Himself to them, either by revealing Himself, or more often than not, disguising Himself as someone who will entice those choice mortals to join in His worship.   In fact, many "followers" of Kareth may not even realize they are following anything at all. Another trick Kareth plays on mortals is to simply grant one he deems worthy His divine power without letting them know He has done such.   Despite acting so deviously, Kareth is not found alongside the names of deities from the darker side of the pantheon. Kareth is not aligned in a way that prevents him from doing good. If it suits him, he may choose to act morally, but only at his own enjoyment.

Symbology & Other Names

Kareth often enjoys leaving His markings behind after meddling with the material world. Often at the scene of some shenanigan, He or one of His followers will inscribe the image of a hitchhiker's thumb to signify Kareth's involvement in the chaos by one means or another. Devout followers of Kareth may where this mark as a tattoo or a pendant placed inconspicuously on their body.   Kareth is often referred to simply as "Father Chaos" by his followers. Others may refer to Him as "The Goat" or "The Hitchhiker".
