The Gods - work in progress

What does it mean to be a god in your world? What level of power do they possess? Suggested Templates: Character Tags: #religion #character #culture #gods Written By: @Hanhula#9157     _________________     The country shares the same religion, but has a few different minor details that add humor and confusion in the story -see the regional cultures below for the differences. The kingdom believes in several gods that are the mythical creatures of our world who created the world. The people believe, although there are many minor gods, there are only seven great gods who sacrificed a bit of themselves to create earth and humans. The seven gods are the Griffon, the Elf, the Pegasus, the Phoenix, the Kelpie, the Wyrm, and, their king, the Dragon. The minor god came to earth and created a lineage of their kind, but the great gods did not, that’s why, although rare, unicorns and dwarfs exist in the world, but elves and dragons do not. The Pegasus and the Pheonix raise the sun and moon, the Griffon moves the clouds, the Elf protects the forests, and Kelpie moves the ocean, the Wyrm creates ores and rules the earth, and the Dragon watches over the humans and their souls. There is a god who abandons the great gods before the earth was created and chose to walk the path of darkness. Today the people refer to him as the Forsaken or the empty god (Black Shuch) who is the face of death and attempts to lead humans down a dark path out of revenge for being exiled and not included as a great god.   In 0CE the Dragon descended from the heavens to end the bloodshed the people of his beloved land were causing to his land and themselves. He attempted to stop the people and was nearly exiled because the people grew fearful that they were wrong and the Dragon was going to destroy their chances of winning. So, moments before his execution, the other gods beg their brother to come back to the heavens and assume his real form, but the Dragon refused to, claiming the few months living on earth as a human had been the most satisfying in his existence and he wished to die as one of the people he loved. He forgave the people for the sins they were about to commit. To ensure their king did not die, the other six gods came to earth and shared half their blood with a human from the region who worshipped them the most who agreed to protect the king while he resides on the earth. With the six beasts help the Dragon created a new kingdom and set the religion to what it is today in the kingdom. The Dragon became known as the Red King and started the von Trauss line, meaning the von Trauss descend from the gods themself. He ruled for eight hundred years with the same six beasts who saved his life. It is a legend today, but it was true. The Red King is a god, he is the Red Dragon, the king of the gods. He had a single daughter who created the von Trauss royal line. After the eight hundredth year, the Red King decided the people no longer needed him and be laid to rest to return to his brothers in the heavens leaving the promise he would return when the kingdom needs him again. The six beasts promised to remain on earth until the Red King returned again. Knowing their powers were too great for the people to handle, each went their separate ways to different corners of the kingdom until the Red King returned again. Because the beast was still half-human the gods allowed the original beast to rest on the earth and brought their souls to the heavens and allowed their sons and daughters to live their promise and wait for the Red King -that’s why they all have regular life spans.
