Personal history

Background Audette is the only living child of King Marcus von Truass, making her the crowned princess of the kingdom. She had a brother who died in a boundary patrol when she was four, she was crowned the day before she turned five. Five years after the death of her brother, he mother, Moira, fell deathly ill. As her mother grew closer to death, Audette slowly lost her voice; when her mother died, she lost her voice completely and has never uttered another sound after. She earned the nickname of the Mute Princess of the Foolish King. Audette grows up as a sheltered princess who was never allowed to leave the castle walls, she is ignorant, but not unintelligent.
Evolution Audette is shaped by the tight net of royals and has never seen the poverty and cruelty of the land. Because of this, she cares little about money and cares more about keeping up an appearance and how people see her. After the death of her father, Audette learns to forget about how others view her and more on surviving every day. Once Ryker is injured, Skarlet's focus changes to protecting her loved ones leading her on her journey to find the six beasts, but as she sees the suffering of her people as she travels the country, she changes her focus to protecting the people closest to her to helping her people in their suffering against tyrant lords and the new laws passed by the reagent by finding the new Red King.
Priorities When Audette lives in the castle she only cares about pleasing her father and her appearance. She runs away at any opportunity when her studies are mentioned. She would rather be watching the soldiers train or climbing the old walls of the castle. If fashion is mentioned, Audette suddenly appears to lick up the information. She mainly does this to impress her cousin who she has a crush on and is hinted that they are betrothed. After leaving the castle, her only goal is to survive, she learns to use a bow and cook, but everything she does is to survive or protect, nothing more. At night Audette will practice shooting her bow after everyone is asleep. Audette asks questions and listens to the lessons her growing group gives her as they walk. When Audette is not walking, she helps Sigmund with preparing the food or mending clothes. Every waking moment Audette is learning, she only stops to sleep.

Education

Audette's education is centered around politics. She knows common history, but her father goes to great lengths to block her from learning about the recent wars that occurred in his lifetime. She knows the ettiquettes of court, but has very little knowledge of common skills since most are done for her.

Motivation

Audette has little motivation when in the castle. Her only motivation is to please her father and marry her cousin while still having her fun. She does strive to go beyond the castle walls, but makes no move or speaks no desire to do so. After leaving she just wants to survive long enough to understand why her father was killed and why she has to die as well. As she sees all the suffering in her land, she wants to help the people have a life where they can laugh and live the way they want without the fear of death and war, like she once had.

• Color: Red (Arthur used to comment on how much he loved her hair, but the night he killed her father and betrayed her, he told her the color red was a sign of death, that she would only bring death if she were to live.)

Audette has little prejudice against those with physical differences such as the color of skin or physical handicaps as she is one that is judged for both. Her bright red hair is unusual in her kingdom and surrounding ones. While there are people with red hair, they are very uncommon and due to her nobility, she is judged for her unusual hair color. She also isn't able to speak and is ridiculed and teased for it. People think she's doing it for attention or she wasn't smart enough to learn even the basics like speaking. Because of this constant attack, she doesn't judge others for their physical traits.
Despite this, due to what she grew up hearing, she does have a hatred for the kingdom of Afrad. Pacellum's last war was with Afrad over resources. Pacellum, having barely won the war, wrote the history and paints Afrad as war-hungry monsters who attacked the kingdom with little warning. Audette grows up hearing the nobles speak of the war and constantly curse Afrad's king that she has an ingrained hatred for them. (This will be important when she is in the city of Likari because she will have to face this prejudice and learn the true history of the war.)

Hygiene

Due to her status, Skarlet baths nearly every day and has a fresh set of clothes just as often. Despite this, she has no preference for her hygiene except when it involves touching her hair. Skarlet hates her unruly hair and tends to avoid taking care of it for as long as she can avoid it.
