"In the first year of our ancestors’ rule many centuries past, seeds were planted that soon flourished into our fine city of Vaerskald. A ship containing around 100 dwarves and 30 crewman sailed into the bay of what would become a bustling center for trade, art, and community." -(Insert David's Artist name)
The first large settlement of the new found lands, Vaerskald is a port city ran by a group of elder dwarves and elves. Named after the dwarven hero Vaerskaldr that is said to have protected the city from an Aboleth, Vaerskald prides itself on its architecture as well as its massive shipyards. Their buildings and ships are made from a secret mixture of crushed stone, magic, and tar which forms the world's strongest concrete called Everstone.
The upper class is mainly comprised of dwarves and elves, while the lower class is mainly humans.

Most of the lower class work with either farms or fishing. More skilled workers get to work in the shipyards and factories crafting the basic cement mixture required for construction as well as the massive trade/fishing ships.

The cement mixture is a grayish black that makes up most of the buildings in Vaerskald. The humans are known to compare the color of their city with the darkness in the council's hearts.
The terrain has several hills rising above the ocean to the west and the river to the south. The city is protected from the ocean by a large white sandy beach and a steep cliff face that only encounters the occasional large wave. The river divides the city from its farmland to the south, and floods occasionally to keep the farmland fertile. From the top of the largest hill within the city, the beautiful sunsets over the ocean can be seen.
