The David

The David has had a long and storied history throughout its existance, going from an Erandulelian ship named the Century Eagle, to serving in the War against the Darkwing Empire, to being the first Rularian vessel and crew to sail, with public consent from the Rularian council, to Erendoc.   Orginally gifted to the heroes Trill Nessik, Queen Mia'rora Erleth and Governess Consort Shade, in the early days of their adventures, when they were just Mia'rora Cleric of Ilmater, Trill Gnomish Bard, and Shade the Shadow Wielding Warlock. The David, or then known as the Century Eagle, was given to them by the King of Erandule, Trindule, along with a compliment of Elven sailors, and three Estariell Guard Captains, Zatari, Bruce and Errach.   Once in Horan's Rise, Bruce, a half-orc leaves the crew, deciding to stay and help the refuges from Thaltical, leaving Zatari and Errach aboard the ship.   Throughout the uncoming war in Dragontide, the Century Eagle served alongside the Polantian Navy, and once the war was over, was upgraded and renamed the David. The David then took the heroes Mia'rora and Trill, alongside their new charge Adam 'Astaroth' Astiell towards Erendoc, searching for Mia'rora birth family.   Before the journey to Erendoc the David hired new crew, crew that became family to all aboard and many names who remained on the David, serving under Zatari for years to come. Those people were:
  • Wanda 'Goddess' Bonney, Bosun
  • Nilzek Oceanspray, Helmsmen
  • Errach, Crow
  • Kror Whiteskull, Expert on Erendoc and Venka
Bonney remained serving aboard the David until her retirement to settle down with her wife Evangeline Longstem, the pay remaining to sail, but aboard Eva's ship, the Elf. Errach served until his passing of old age, at the age of 32, the old Aaracokra serving aboard the ship of his life long friend until his death, Zatari still carries one of his feathers in her hat. Kror also retired, around the time of his 65th year, spending his twilight years to write his memoires about his adventures across Erendoc, Venka and Rularia. The last member of the crew, Nilzek, served until his death at 121, having no other family other than the crew and Zatari, they had a burial at sea. Once the last member of her inner circle had passed, Zatari gave each crew member a generous severance for their years of service, and took the David up to the North Rularian Frontier, ran the ship aground and has elected to live out the remainder of her long Druidic life surround by nature, the stars, and the tide.

Propulsion

The David is propelled by the wind, with large sails hoisted by the mainmast and foremast. The sails were gifted to the David by Gondri, being made of a lightweight, but incredibly strong, silk like material. The sails are further enchanted to double the strength of any wind, allowing even the slowest or lightest billows of wind to propel the ship forwards.

Weapons & Armament

The David carries a whole host of armaments aboard, its main firepower coming from the cannons lining its broadsides. With 28 cannons total, 12 of the portside, 12 starboard, and 2 facing forwards at the bow and 2 facing backwards at the stern.   On the quarterdeck, two swivel arcane cannons are mounted, one port and one starboard, enchanting any shot fired from them with fire, lightning, ice, or acid.   The rigging of the ship is also enchanted to be commanded by the Captain, Zatari Tealeaf, to move on its own, allowing her to hoist the sails herself. Or grapple and hold any boarding parties or stowaways.

Communication Tools & Systems

During their time in Erendoc, Zatari acquired a Lightbox for The David, with it allowing for greater navigation of Oxdara as a whole, as well as communicate with the crew when ashore on leave.
