Yerundu's Cymbals

Did you know there's a language on Earth where something like "yerundu" means nonsense? Tells you a lot about what the cymbals, that's for sure.
There have been many attempts over the years to thwart the Horn of Mezkeni. Most of these simply involve going on the offensive when the Horn is in danger of being used in conjunction with Zhomek's Inferno, but there was a period of time in which the Cult of No Zeminek attempted to create an inverse instrument.   The only one that survives is Yerundu's Cymbals. Or rather, it's the only one they didn't very deliberately destroy.

A Source of Embarrassment and Frustration

It is powerful, to be sure. A lot less incidentally toxic than, say, the Viola of Destiny or the Trombone Eloquentis. That it wasn't outright destroyed means that it was both one of the successes and also the only stable instrument. But there is a very good reason that it was hidden away some time after the last Inferno.   No one alive today knows what that reason was. Something happened during prior usage that thoroughly convinced the cult that hiding it away was the best option. Its resurfacing after all this time has a lot more to do with accident than the cult willingly seeking it out.

Instrumentation of Power

The cymbals are well made instruments, constructed of an appropriate metal, tempered to the proper state, and polished to a mirror shine. They are good instruments, even without the magic inlaid.   Clashing them together causes some kind of magical effect. We don't know what this effect might be since the cymbals have been lost for centuries and the people who lost it made sure that all information was lost with it. Presumably this effect counters the Horn of Mezkeni in some way.
