Investigation Thyme
Mrs. Johnson's cousin has disappeared. He was working security in a laboratory and had voiced concerns to his aunt regarding coworkers that were supposedly fired. She made him call her daily, and he didn't check in today. When she called the lab, they said he had taken time off. Now she wants the runners to investigate, and is arranging a cover for them joining the lab as new security guards. She's offering them 4k each for intel, and an additional 4k each if they manage to find her cousin well, or avenge his death.
Once the runners infiltrate the lab and chat with their coworkers, they can quickly find out that the lab has been recently hemorrhaging security guards. Currently at least three quit or are fired every week, and staffing is having a hard time keeping up. The fired guards seem to have invoked the ire of Dr. Amélie Lafontaine, who is investigating awakened plants and quickly enraged when security 'disturbs the plants'.
If the runners hack Dr. Lafontaine's terminals, or go through her paperwork, they can find secret records that reveal she's working on training security plants and is investigating how their diet impacts them. Two months ago she was declined permission to 'start human trials'. Deep within the lab, they can find a pod containing bones, and another containing the Johnson's cousin, who's already missing a leg. When caught, Lafontaine will unleash the plants to block the runners as she makes her getaway.
Big Bang
The runners are hired to completely wipe out a security lab, leaving no evidence whatsoever. That includes no survivors. The entire place must become a fiery hellhole. For this, the runners are offered 16k each. Shortly after their meet, they are contacted by a second Johnson, who spies on their first Johnson. All this Johnson wants is that they secretly bring him 1 survivor, by the name of Dr. Emy. For this, they will get 4k each. He intends to recruit the scientist for his own corp and give them a false name, so the runners their betrayal should not be discovered.
The runners are scheduled to attack during planned satellite maintenance, which will cut the laboratory off from the world for 23 minutes. During this time they must fight their way in, destroy all research materials, and plant explosives that will collapse the entire complex. Once they are caught by any sensors or verbal alarm, the entire place will go into a strict lockdown and they must fight their way through.
Dr. Emy is a researcher of fungi, and has found ways to raise production with 7% while saving 2% in feed. Recently Dr. Emy discovered even better methods, and is planning to attend a corporate conference. The first Johnson is Dr. Emy's supervisor, who has been skimming the profits. Knowing that conference would expose him, he has chosen drastic measures, proving that even science is a kill throat business.
Stats
Guards
The laboratory has a total of 30 employees, 2 lead scientists, 12 assistant researchers, and 16 security guards. Both the researchers and guards work in shifts of 12h, so 8 guards are on deck at any time. A group of 3 patrol, while the other 5 are at the security office. In case of emergency, the others will be awoken and join the fray. Due to its remote location, it will take 11 minutes for PR6 HTR to arrive. (Use 12x PR6 Officers, 1x PR6 Technomancer, 3x PR10 Shamanic Support, Sixth World p207-208, p210.)
The guards aren't very skilled (see Sixth World PR3 Lone Star Patrolman, p206), but being in an enclosed area means they will fight to the death and are rated at PR6 out of desperation. In case of an alarm they will use Jazz (see Sixth World p124). Researchers are easy targets (physical 2s, mental 4s, untrained in combat skills), unless they get 3 minutes to MacGyver explosives and tear gas grenades. Give them 12 minutes and lethal neurotoxins will be released throughout the entire lab.
Security Systems
All doors are security doors. The interior walls are all reinforced concrete, while all windows are made from armoured glass. Most doors use Rating 4 maglock keycards, while the labs and offices use Rating 6 print scanners that only the scientists can use. Rating 4 security cameras cover every corner of the laboratory, and Rating 6 motion detectors guard the entrance tunnel. (For Structure Ratings, see Sixth World p113. For locks and sensors, see Sixth World p241-242.)
There is a primary Security Host (Rating 3, 5/3/4/6), but no Spider. In case of an alarm, an external Spider (mental 5s, skills 6s) will appear after 2 combat rounds (6 seconds). All security devices are wired into the Host, while the guards have their electronics wirelessly slaved to it. The scientists use personal terminals (Firewall 3), while the lab devices are all connected to a primary Node (Firewall 5). These can only be accessed by direct connection.
