Keeper Notes

Once the scenario begins and the investigators arrive at the restaurant, put the Mr. Steven Knott character into play. Once Mr. Knott has provided the investigators with information about the house and other locations where they may gather more information, give the players Clues C01 and C02. Then put the following locations into play: The Boston Globe, The Central Library, The Hall of Records, and The Corbitt House.

Give the players time to absorb the information, discuss matters and decide on a course of action. Some players will be keen to head straight to the house, but there is a very real possibility they will fail to successfully complete the scenario if they do so. You may suggest that they would be better off conducting some research first, or you may allow the situation to play out in the hopes that the investigators leave the house in retreat before they are all eliminated. Players whose investigators are eliminated do have the option of continuing the scenario with replacement investigators.

Keeper Notes

The Discover roll in the clippings morgue is a prime opportunity to introduce the rules for Teamwork, assuming the investigators are searching through the clippings together and have the appropriate skills. Success or success with style on the Discover roll in the clippings morgue also provides the Keeper with the opportunity to provide the players with Fragments, Seeds, and Hooks to other scenarios by introducing them through other unpublished stories or notes from former Globe journalists. (This is completely the wrong scene for Edge of Darkness. It's actually from The Haunting. I'm just using it to test out using blocks for a scenario article.)
