Terra Mater, Gaia, Midgard, Prithvi, Itügen, Kay Pacha, Bitu… All names for Earth, the physical, real place where we live out our lives. But every religion from the dawn of time suggests this Earth is not all there is. That there are other worlds, dimensions, planes of existence. Even science offers hints of this possibility.   The Earth came into being, and in time, life covered the planet. Civilizations arose, reached a peak, and then… Cataclysm. An event so devastating that it cracked the fabric of time and split existence into diverging realities.   Sixteen-hundred years B.C., the island of Thera in the Mediterranean Sea was destroyed by one of the most powerful volcanic explosions in the planet’s history, causing floods, tsunamis, weather disruptions and crop failings as far away as China and the Americas. Caught at the center of the cataclysm was the Minoan Empire, which slid into oblivion, recalled only in legend as Atlantis.   Civilization struggled on, empires rose, crumbled and new ones rose in their place. After two millennia, civilization reached a peak, and cataclysm struck again. Darkness swept the land with fire and death in a flood of monstrous beings and terrible magic released from its fetters.   Five hundred years have passed since The Darkness overwhelmed the realms of Civilization, pushing the survivors to the edges of the seas, and the brink of extinction. No one knows what evil power holds sway over the foul beings who wander the ruined cities of the Lost Lands, or drive The Cursed against the realms of the survivors. But Civilization has held, grown stronger, and now people dare to dream of reclaiming their ancient homelands.
