What stalks the caverns of The Depths is something that is on the minds of all that visit. Whether they are there to tour or stay they all ask about their safety. The Depths are notoriously dangerous due to the fiends that use it to travel Lanfe, however depth crawlers are peoples main concern. Bodies are found gruesomely dismembered and splayed, disfigured sometimes beyond recognition. These have always been attributed to depth crawlers even though no one has been confirmed to truly see one.

Summary

Depth crawlers are creatures that stalk the caves of The Depths and strike out at anyone they can find, completely destroying their victims bodies, leaving none alive. They only live in The Depths and have never been spotted on the surface of Lanfe. They tend to attack people when they are isolated watching from the dark and patiently waiting for the opportune time.

Historical Basis

The only evidence of depth crawler existence is the accountings of the people who claimed to have seen them and lived. The victims of the depth crawlers are proof of something unknown in The Depths.

Spread

The legend of depth crawlers spreads only among those who live in The Depths or those who have visited or plan too. Most merchants in The Depths sell chimes which are used for Chiming to protect against the depth crawlers.

Variations & Mutation

Sort of like a game of modern day telephone, as the stories of depth crawlers spreads around certain details get added or forgotten, so much so that depth crawlers are extreme abominations in the minds of most.
