The Lily of The Tor

A famous brothel in Balren's Tor. Set up as a high class establishment catering to the exotic and outlandish tastes of wealthy traveling merchants. The Lily is modeled after similar brothels and cabarets that are more commonly found in Cegrad and is meant to provide those affluent merchants and nobles traveling through the Tor to Stormgard with all the lavish comforts they would find in their home country.

Purpose / Function

The Lily of The Tor functions as a place of pleasure and relaxation for those who can afford the services offered there. Besides sex and libations, the Lily also offers secure and private rooms meant for liaisons and business meetings. Because Mistress Delphine is the head of the Mercantile Federation branch in Balren's Tor, The Lily also functions as the hub for such dealings within the city.

Architecture

The building has been constructed in the classic Cegradian style, which contrasts strongly against the more traditional Valish architecture more common to the region. The outside structure is comprised of a red brick foundation with white stucco walls and dark timber framing. Several large gabled windows adorn the front, each featuring beautiful stained glass that is tinted enough so that the interior is difficult to see from the street outside. A wide double door painted in rich burgundy and embellished with brass lily door handles serves as the main entrance.
Inside, the rooms are decorated lavishly, just shy of being gaudy. Plush furniture, polished dark wood paneling, and rich dark velvet drapes and tapestries decorate the sitting room and lounges where clients are greeted and served refreshments or titillated by musical performances and exotic dances. The floor above, containing private rooms and the private chambers of the prostitutes who live and work at The Lily are similarly decorated.

History

The Lily of The Tor has been a fixture in Balren's Tor for as long as there has been established trade routes between Valthall and Cegrad, though it did not always bear its current name and reputation. The establishment rose to prominence after Mistress Delphine acquired it during her rise to power within the Mercantile Federation. It was Delphine that transformed the simple brothel into the established hub of business and pleasure that it is today.
