Personal history

Not much was known about David in his young life, besides he served as a priest and a cleric in farming communities across southern and northern Alataria. When the War of the Dead broke out, the whole world was effected and David put down the good book and brought up the sword against the enemies of civilization. He fought in large scale battles all across Alataria making a name for himself.
After many successful campaigns against the Cult of Mortum and the Army of the Dead, he was granted the title of Grand Paladin by the Holy Order of Pelor and was given retinue with the Kingdom of Alataria. The King put him to work leading parts of his armies across the land fighting evil back, his prowess unmatched and his cunning unequaled, the King nicknamed him The Eagle. David was given lordship and was able to start a Grand House with in the Kingdom for his duty and heroism.
Because of his new found lordship, David was given the ability to create his own legion by the king that way to further his holy work. David handpicked 29 individuals to be his companions. He gave them no name, as the work they did would be name enough. He set forth his new company to Alataria and struck at the heart of darkness cleansing his lands. David and his company single handedly cleared 60 groups, covens and infestations of Mortum's doing from the Kingdom's realm within the first 3 months of their inception, not loosing a single solider in the process.
Words of his deeds reached the ears of the Vostrinian King, who requested David's company to help him fight the threat near the source, which bordered his land. The King of Alataria at the time was hesitant given the uneasy alliance the two nations had up to this point. David insisted on going and he would take all the wealth and gold that he had amassed over there years as gift to the Vostrinian King on behalf of the Alatrion Kingdom. The King reluctantly agreed and gave David and his men a single boat which they loaded with gold and treasures.
Upon arriving to the Vostrinian lands, the King greet David and his "Golden Company" with warm arms and accepted the gift graciously. This instance was the start of a forging of an alliance between the two Kingdoms and the name Golden Company stuck with David and his legacy since. The Vostrinan King set him to work by showing him where most of Mortums troops were amassing, the Vostrians were still confused on where Mortum was getting his troops from and tasked David and the Golden Company to find the roots of these lairs and destroy and cleanse them. The Vostrinians weren't particularly pious people and possessed now centralized church of their own, so David sent word back to Grand Vizier Traith that his Paladins and Clerics were needed in Vostrine to help cleanse the land as well as establish some sort of hallowed ground.
David went about his work clearing the realm of these hovels and int eh processed learned more and more about his Enemy, Mortum. He found that Mortum was reinforcing his ranks by wretched means and learned of foul magic devices called The Spiral of Bones . Learning of these evil necrotic magics lead him to start researching necromancers and further wizards and sorcerers of evil and he began to travel the world in search of the source or history of Mrotum's power. During this time most historical records on David either weren't written or were destroyed or lost. But after a time around a decade David returned with knowledge on how to defeat Mortum.

David demanded a council of Kings and infgormed that they must all unite under one banner if they were every to hope to defeat Mortum. He told them they could deliberate but warned of an impending doom, urging them to be expeidiant in their talks. With that David left for the battefield, marching his Golden Company south to the border of Fecloyor and then East to Montagne Sinistre, one of Mortum, Chief Strongholds, picking up several companies of Soldiers that had been fighting relentlessly for years. There they seiged the stronghold with ferocity of men that had no tomorrow. Outnumbered and outmatched, David and his new army refused to surrender any ground and chose to die by the bunch for inches of field. When all was lost, the Army of The Four Kings, newly formed and marshaled began to siege the Region of Mortum from all sides diverting many soldiers and dead from Montagne Sinistre allowing the David's army to push into the fortress.
What happens after this is alot of speculation as only a few eyewitness accounts exist but this what we know and the best we can describe.
Mortum's fortess was a hollow mountain the entire time, swarming with cultist, the dead and unspeakable horrors. David's army cleared it out room by room and hall by hall. During this time, the Golden Company ahd pushed on ahead and was cutoff from the rest of the group. It is assumed that they pushed through the mountain to the other side into Mortum's Valley of the Dead, there his Dark Tower awaited. David and his company fought there and entered the tower where it is said that David and the remaining members of the Company fought Mortum himself. David killed Mortum, but his magics did not wane. Somewhere deep below the tower was the source his dark magics. There in that Dark hole, David channeled the light of Pelor and set forth a cleansing spell that shattered the power and spell of Mortum and spread all across the entirety of the world slaying the dead. David did not survive the ritual was carried by his surviving men.

The Wizard erected a floating Island and named it Shulk where his body and belongings were kept, High above the northern seas where it is said that David had first felt the light of Pelor. It remains there to this day, although the status of his Temple is unknown due to the dangers of the islands.

Quotes & Catchphrases
"The eyes of the dead will burn with Pelor's light, his justice tenfold wielded in my hands, I am the Sword of Pelor!"
"The pathetic squabbling of lords and ladies, kings and queens will mean nothing when the worms of the dead are upon you, consuming your love ones and burning your castles down. Throw aside your pride for a moment and come together under the common need to survive. I know of Mortum's doings and know you would rather talk with all that hot air than act. But I will act. I will act because while you sit in your stone walls trying to figure out who is more important and more powerful, Mortum acts. His army doesnt need sleep nor food nor wealth. And it comes for us all. I will not stay and terry any longer, should you want to join me, I will be within the Grim Mount with my hands around Mortum's throat. "
