Ossarque

Ossarque is a world abandoned by the gods. Both ancient and steeped in magic, Ossarque is a land of many practitioners of magic, but few true masters. The power of the civilised races of the world comes not from their great heroes, but from their facility with imbuing objects with great and powerful magic. Spanned by but a few great empires, the three main landmasses of the world have found that in their power and safety, they have little use for the worship of the gods.   When the greatest of the great mages of your nation can scarcely summon a fireball, and the most talented clerics can do naught but cure small wounds, the people instead turn to the magical weaponsmiths and artificers of the world. These craftsmen, with the help of many other magic users, can imbue objects with the kind of power that even the most skilled can scarcely dream of.   This state of affairs was not always the case. Ossarque has had its share of great empires and fantastic heroes, and will do so again, but in the shadow of the last truly wondrous empires of the world, and with nobody left who remembers to worship the gods, Ossarque is a world with a target on it.
