Ortia

Magic is a banal fact of life in the Ortian Empire and the surrounding lands. Some humans are witches and sorcerers. Some fairies move from their kingdoms to the human countries. Some people are human-fairy hybrids. Some magic-users curse humans, especially human princesses. For years, people put up with it; it is just the way things are.   The Emperor of Ortia has had enough of magic going unchecked. With both human and fairy advisors by his side, he passed a law all but banning magic across his empire. A fairy named Umbra led an uprising that eventually resulted in the formation of a small, separate, allegedly sovereign nation called the Pro-Magic Alliance (PMA).   For the past few decades, Ortia and the PMA have been ignoring each other. Ortia enforces its laws within its borders and limits its interactions with the fairy kingdoms, while the PMA freely interacts with every nation in the world except for Ortia. Umbra and six other magic-users lead the PMA, and their children get dragged to many a council meeting.   Now the old emperor's grandson is reaching out a friendly and diplomatic hand to the PMA, and the children of the PMA are intrigued by the magic-less outsiders.
