Injuries & Hit Dice

Injuries   When a character is reduced to below [0] hit points they receive an injury. Compounding multiple injuries can have drastic effects on that character’s ability to perform during the course of an adventure and defend themselves. Minor injuries require only a small amount of skill and investment to treat but major injuries can take a great deal of time to overcome. If a character experiences a Level Up their injuries are cured at the end of the long rest that would accompany it. Only one roll may be made per day to treat an injury.   Minor Injury -- A minor injury gives the effected character the 'Exhausted' condition which corresponds to disadvantage on all skill checks. To recover from this condition a (DC=12) Medicine check can be attempted once per day or the character must complete 1 day of uninterrupted rest.   Major Injury -- A major injury gives the effected character the 'Weakened' condition which corresponds to disadvantage on all skill checks and attack rolls. To recover from this condition a (DC=16) Medicine check can be attempted once per day or the character must complete 2 days of uninterrupted rest.   Critical Injury -- A major injury gives the effected character the 'Wounded' condition which corresponds to disadvantage on all skill checks, attack rolls, and saving throws (including death saving throws). To recover from this condition a (DC=20) Medicine check can be attempted once per day or the character must complete 3 days of uninterrupted rest.   =========================================================   Hit Dice   A character regains [2] Hit Die per long rest while out in the field, or away from comfortable living conditions, and regains [1/2] their total Hit Dice (rounded down) when staying in a comfortable environment such as an inn or a private quarter of a guildhall. If a character experiences a Level Up, they regain all hit dice upon the long rest that would accompany that increase.
