West-Corp is a major Terran based corporation

Origin

West-Corp, originally known as Western Foundation Corporation, started life as a hedge fund and investment bank. In the 2080's West-Corp was restructured and became the modern entity that it is today.

Structure

West-Corp is structured in a fairly standard fashion. There is a CEO who is appointed by the Board of Directors who are answerable to the share-holders.
West-Corp prefers to have a smaller central structure which in turn owns more than 30 smaller corporations and sub-divisions underneath it.

West-Corp has a broad range of products and services. It's involved in investment banking, commodities trading, agri-business, pharmaceuticals and security.
West-Corp owns Halliday Media which in turns owns three major media outlets

Rivals

West-Corp have a historical rivalry with VENTRISS UDC. West-Corp have long regarded the Japanese corporation as having no morals and being little more than criminals.
West-Corp have a fairly cordial relationship with Allied Technology. The two have a few mutual agreements but have clashed in the past
West-Corp do not get on very well with Espirit du Nacional but they do not regard them as serious competition.

Crisis of 2396

The IIS revealed that West-Corp had traded information and a zero-point reactor to the rebels, a charge that West-Corp deny. Emperor August Solarin ordered the entire board at West-Corp to be arrested and all West-Corp stock and assets to be seized by the Empire.
However, before Marines could move on West-Corp offices and bases, West-Corp's security, backed by that of EDN & VENTRISS UDC's security intended to resist. The Marines held their ground and a stand-off began.
In the end, the Empire negotiated and West-Corp's CEO and COO were taken into custody, facing trial. A new CEO was put in place and a senior civil servant was given a place as a non-executive director.

The Merger

In 2415 West-Corp agreed to a merger with Allied Technology , forming the new corporation Allied West .
