The Rod of Seven

A simple staff. A pale tan or gray color down its whole length. Set in its length were seven jewels that gleamed brighter than any torch and sent dancing colors spiraling down the staff itself and its holder. An object of beauty it was in the hands of its creator.
Excerpt from an account in   'Relics of Old' by Loreseeker Ergol
The creation of the City of Quartz is one of the most well documented events in the history of Orlos. Beyond just the city's beauty, its importance in protecting the races from the surrounding chaos for over 400 years ensured that it would be remembered for time out of mind. As such, it is not surprising that a number of myths have arisen.
None of these myths have been more important or prominent as that surrounding the Rod of Seven. The tales surrounding this staff are as varied as the species that walk the planet. Some claim it to have been of a golden hue, others a white one, others said it burned with blue flames, other claimed that it gave off a cold aura. Which of these interpretations is accurate is difficult to tell despite the lives of many Loreseekers, like Ergol, being devoted to the discovery of the rod and its secrets.
The Rod of Seven as sketched by Loreseeker Ergol
The Rod was originally in the possession of Orlo himself. He is said to have used it to protect the races as they fled the surrounding mayhem into the City of Quartz and it is what he channeled his power through to keep the protective curtain around the city in the centuries to follow.   Upon the expulsion from the City of Quartz, the Rod of Seven dropped away into history, then into legend, and now only lasts as a myth. Whether the Rod was kept by Orlo in the city or given to one of his chosen after the expulsion is debated but there has been no valid claim of the rod being sighted since that time.   Nowadays, the Rod of Seven is claimed only as part of myth or popular culture. Many a ballad by the bards have been sung of its use, both before and after the chaos. Magical artifacts with protective qualities are often given a similar form as the Rod of Seven, hoping to recapture the technology and power of the original rod. The most visible tribute for the rod though comes in the Constellation of the Rod of Seven, an arc of stars across the equatorial sky of Orlos. However, none of these have reached the true beauty that the original rod would have possessed.
