Kobold
Biology
Anatomy & Physiology
Kobolds are vertical bipedal hexapods, with two sets of manipulatory limbs on the sides of the upper torso and a pair of hindlimbs used for locomotion. The lower section of the spine transitions into a short tail, used for balance and fat storage. Kobolds have an internal skeleton composed of cobalt carbonate and collagen, and reinforced with natural carbon fibre. Their vascular oxygen carrier is coboglobin, a cobalt-based protein that turns dark amber when oxidized. Kobolds have tough, leathery skin covered in small bony osteoderms and sensory whiskers distributed across the body.Perception & Sensory Capabilities
Visual
Kobold visual sense is rather weak, primarily adapted to low-light vision and poorly adapted for distance and color. Kobolds see with three slit-pupil focal eyes (two on either side of the snout and one in the forehead), which are able to pick up motion, spatial orientation, definite shape, and a spectrum of color ranging from deep infrared to orange-yellow.
Olfactory
Kobolds have a rather keen olfactory sense, facilitate by a pair of spiracles that lead to a respiratory-derived olfactory chamber.
Auditory
The kobold auditory sense is extremely acute, enabled by a pair of large bat-like external ears just behind the primary eyes. These ears are sensitive to the standard hearing range into deep ultrasound. This is supplemented by their tactile whiskers, which are sensitive to infrasound.
Tactile
The kobold tactile sense is very strong -a necessity for subterranean life. Their entire epidermis is sensitive to tactile input, though the effect is most intense in the hands, feet, tail, and especially their whiskers.
Ecology
Origins
The kobold species is one of the universe’s greatest mysteries. Kobolds appear to have adapted for life underground, which is due to the fact that their sun is among the most violently active main sequence stars in the currently known universe. However, EV Lacertae –called Mak in their tongue– is only 300 million years old; barely enough time for the planet itself to form and cool, let alone for life to evolve on Qur’tul naturally. Confounding this matter is the fact that kobolds, and indeed their ecosystem as a whole, do not bear any genetic or morphologic relationship to any known biospheres. Where the kobolds originally came from, how they arrived on Qur’tul, and why the migration happened at all is a complete enigma, most of all to the kobolds themselves.Geographic Origin & Distribution
The kobolds developed their technological civilization more or less entirely underground, concealed from the sensors of the greater galaxy. Because of this, they are a fairly rare sight in known space, as very few ever leave their homeworld.Habitat & Survival Factors
The optimal survival range in a variety of factors for an unequipped kobold is rather wide to begin with, though they require lower-than-average oxygen content and tend to prefer cool, dry, and dim environments. However, given the technology and/or resources to build said technology, they are able to live almost anywhere in the cosmos -thought they choose not to.Civilization & Culture
Qurtic culture is extremely secretive and reclusive. Kobolds are mistrustful of outsiders, and it is unlikely to find them as members of non-Qurtic cultural groups either. Kobold communities are tight-knit and socialistic, with each individual valued the same. Although kobold civilization is quite advanced, their technological designs are quite rustic and earthen in styling, reflecting the subterranean environments characteristic of kobolds.Major Organizations

Physical Traits
Echolocation
You can 3D-map the space around you in your head with sound. As long as you are not in a vacuum, you gain proficiency in the Perception skill, you cannot be surprised in combat, and attackers do not gain advantage from flanking you.Darkvision
You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You cannot discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.Pack Tactics
You have advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.Extra Limbs
You may take two bonus actions during your turn rather than one, so long as they are different actions coming from different sources.Natural Weapons
Your claws, teeth, and spines act as natural weapons, adding 1d4 piercing and slashing damage to your unarmed attacks.Natural Armor
You have tough, scaly skin. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your DEX modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.Cultural Traits
