herelion mountains

The herelion mountains are home to the dwarven races of orion. Tall snow capped mountains dot this lush and craggy landscape. Beasts that roam and call this land home are hardy and vicious. Many adventurers come to this land in search of fame and glory. while also keeping close to the dwarven ale houses. during the great war this land was turned into one of the biggest iron and steel manufacturing plants on the planet. although the dwarves were tough and dangerous on their own, and out right deadly when united, they were no mach for the magic's the elves possessed. dwarves never had a affinaty for magic, some did however weild it, they more often than not relied on their hands and tools to get the job done. a common misconception is that most dwarves are dumb and brash, while this may be true for some clans, more often than not however dwarves are inquisitive and have enough ingenuity to build or solve most problems put before them. clans such as delan and bungoro are usually on the forefront of most dwarven technological advancement. it comes as no surprise then that the dwarves did not go down without a fight. causing many elven deaths, and quite the destruction of elven war machines, the dwarves nearly pushed the elves out of their homeland. unfortunately for the dwarves the elves soon began to use magic to bind and control most dwarven officials. in doing so they enacted unrest among the dwarven hierarchy. the land of the heralion mountains are sccared even to this day from elvish fire pits, where they made "examples" out of rebellious dwarves, as well as deep caverns where dwarves were forced to mine iron, steel, and coal to forge more weapons and armor for the elves.
"Although the mountains house many creatures, including the dwarves, they still remain a becon of power and respect that is commanded from mother earth herself." - the encyclopedia of everything written by Barg the golem

Jagged Mountains and Low valley's

many mountains in this land are home to several diffrent creatures but the mountains in the herelion land are massive and home to almost all that live in the surrounding area. the mountains are just the start though all throughout the land are deep valleys with running rivers and flourishing woods. most of the surrounding area is filled with lush grasses and abundant undergrowth. the animals are strong and plentiful. the dwarves of these mountains have never needed to fear hunger or drought. some people believe that the beauty of this land made the elves want it even more.

Overpass

a deadly trek and a necessary road.
the overpass is a long winding road that stretches east of the dorwind keep. it connects the keep to greywell, a fortified encampment made to ward off any attacks from the dragonborn or to be used in case the main keep fell. during the elven occupation the location of the greywell was heavily guarded by a specific sect of unholy dwarves known as the fallen. before the great war and before the elves claimed most of the land several dwarves were begining the dwarven empire. they dug riches and created master peices. however there lust for pwer drove the kings to do unspeakable acts. several were cursed by the dwarven god abbathor to forever serve the people they treated unfairly. thus the overpass was made and the fallen forced to gaurd it. abbathor granted these wretched dwarves everlasting life at the cost of whatever they coveted. they would wait at the entrance of the pass and would keep it hidden from anyone not worthy to walk it. when the elves tried to get information out of a fallen the dwarf would simply feign ignorance. this resulkted in countless hours of torture. the elves tortured the fallen for hundred's of years and continued until they were defeated by the dwarven armies.

lake of the lady

often times reffered to as the mirror lake, the lake of the lady is a place dwarves go to find their true calling and to discover their true potential. this lake spans several miles and is hidden on the overpass. no matter the weather or what animals come to the lake it is forever still and always reflecting the sky. until a creature of sintiance tries to view it, then it reflects whatever is deep inside that person. many dwarves make a pilgremige to the lake when they become of age. some return, some become exiles and some join the ranks of the fallen. those that return often speak of a young lady that guides them to the lake. often times dwarves lose their nerve when heading to the lake. those that do often find themselves in the company of the young lady. this is where the lake gets its name the lake of the lady.
