Lycanthropes

Orio is not without its own share of curses, among these lycanthropy is particulary feared. People unheard of the curse only see one side of it. Usually this is the Werewolf, a person that transforms into a ferocious, two-legged wolf. This does not mean other forms of lycanthropy exist, but these are not commonly known.  

Wanderes

People who contracted lycanthropy either from a curse by a displeased witch or by fighting one and falling to the cursed bite generally don´t stay idle. The beastial nature within is difficult to control and a lycan can rend the flesh of its soulmate and foe with no remorse. As such, lycans tend to move around often, tracking what causes their transformation and stays away from larger towns were they might be discovered with ease.  

The Curse

There are three different ways you can become a lycan, either you become cursed by a powerful practioner of magic, become bit by one in its beastial form or the trait is hereditary. Most lycans are a result from the second cause, one person become cursed and goes on a rampage. Luckily lycans do not attack to spread the curse, only for a sadistic need to kill. Otherwise they could infect a populace an cause anarchy on a provincewide scale. Some lycans reject this curse, staying as far away from people as possible. In this state, only external relations with the curse can force it to bloom. In the werewolf´s case, this is commonly a full moon. There are also those who choose to embrace this, and they change themself completely, giving their whole self over to a tortured existance. These creatures, for they have long since abandoned all that is humanity or similar can change themselves at will, though with great effort. Their personality becomes consumed by the nature of their curse. There are rumours of some lycans that master their bestial nature, and can fully control the monstrous form. But these are surely rumours, only made by newly made lycan desperate for some measure of comfort in their new terrifying existance.  

Lycanthropy Subraces

  There is one known strain of the Lycanthropy curse which a character can obtain. Only one strain can infect a character at a time. Whilst infected with one strain of Lycanthropy, the character is considered immune to recieving other forms of the curse, automatically succeeding on their CON save when cursed.   If the curse isn´t mastered then you must make and pass a DC 18 WIS save whenever you transform. If you fail the save, then your character becomes chaotic evil, and must attack the nearest target. Achiveing a roll close to 18 (16-17) allows you to focus on one target untill it dies. Upon its death you must attack whatever is next to you.    

Werewolf

  Ability Score Increase. Your Strength Score increases by 2 and Constitution score increases by 1. All the bonuses from your previous race carries over into your lycanthropy.   Involuntary Skinchanger. If the trigger of your curse (A fullmoon) would show itself, then you transform into your werewolf form. This effect lasts for 1d6+4 for summer and 1d8+4 hours. Upon awakening you suffer one level of exhuastion but otherwise gain all the benefits of a long rest.   Voluntary Skinchanger. You can choose once per day to transform into your werewolf form. This ability can only be used if you embrace the curse. This effect lasts for 1d6+4 for summer and 1d8+4 hours. Upon awakening you suffer one level of exhuastion but otherwise gain all the benefits of a long rest.   Humanoid Hybrid Form. Your size is Medium. You have natural armour equal to 11 + Dexterity Modifier.   Wolf Form. Your size is Medium. You have natural armour equal to 11 + Dexterity Modifier and resistance against piercing, bludgeoning and slashing from nonsilvered weapons. Your walking speed is 50ft. You gain the Bite (Melee Weapon Attack, 5 feet, one target, 1d12+3+Strength piercing damage) and Claw (Melee Weapon Attack, 5 feet one target, 2d8+3+Strength slashing damage) and are considered proficient: If the target is a humanoid, it must succeed on a DC 10 CON save or be cursed with werewolf lycanthropy. You cannot use tools or weapons if you have shapeshifted. You also gain 1d10+10 Health points. If you are at your maximum health points, this is taken as temporary health.   Keen Hearing and Smell: While in your Humanoid Hybrid form, or your Wolf form, gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.   Mind of the Beast. If you transform either willingly or unwillingly more than 3 times each week, then the curse completly consumes you, making you unable to shift back into your normal humanoid form except for when the sun is out. At every other point, you transform into your wolf form and cannot make a save and must attack the nearest target. If you manage to kill someone if this nightly rampage you do not suffer a point of exhuastion.
