Human

Born upon the world of Archevon, most humans can trace their history back to the ones first contacted by the Winged Watchers, their cultures are diverse and almost spread out through every corner of the world. However, in this diversity, there is also intense conflict amongst one another, as many find themselves with different interpretations of the Book of Law, and their celestial knowledge that was once used to carve out some of the greatest Empires of all recorded history, it is also what has been used against their own brothers and sisters in the Times of Dissonance. Lacking claws, fangs, and effective night vision, they are in comparison fairly weak when placed tooth and nail against other races. However, what they excel in hasn't been a towering intellect, physics defying strength, or blinding speed - It is and always has been their adaptability.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Four limbed creatures standing from anywhere from 5' (1.5m) to 6' (2.0m) on average. Fairly hairless (in comparison to other races) with the exception of the mass of hair normally found on their heads.

Biological Traits

For the 5100 years that human history has been documented; It is noted that they change according to their environment. From what foods their bodies can process to what elevation they can breathe at. Humans are arguably one of the most adaptable creatures that has existed upon Archevon. Because of this, they have countless different features and traits that one can point as a defining characteristic of a particular group of humans found in a very specific part of the world.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce sexually with the opposite sex of their species, notably involving themselves in various mating rituals, but not all succeed. So, when a female of their species becomes pregnant, it normally takes 9 months for a child to be born.

Growth Rate & Stages

Humans grow rather slowly in comparison to other races, and age quickly in comparison to some others. Normally, humans reach maturity around the early half of their second decade of existence. Most, however, die around the age of 60 and uncommonly (but not unheard of) do some reach the age of 80.

Ecology and Habitats

While most humans do not live in extreme conditions such as volcanic magma fields, noxious gas-filled swamps, or harrowingly cold wastelands, they do tend to find themselves thriving anywhere in between the extreme. However, humans as frail as they may appear, have been found living in small pockets within relatively survivable conditions such as deserts, jungles, or tundra.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are normally omnivorous. Engaging in farming, ranching, and many have involved food cultivation in their cultural customs. In example, in an offering to have a good harvest, they give some of their food and drink to altars at their religious centers.

Biological Cycle

Humans do not gain thick pelts, shed them, or take on the most advantageous of biological adaptations. However, they have known to wear warm clothing in colder environments, and alternatively they wear clothing which allows cooling in hotter environments.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Social structures within their culture emanates from the teachings of the Book of Law, where all people underneath the sky are to be treated equally. However, some have interpreted this as a way of mistreating people who are different than themselves, or elevating themselves to a higher social standing upon an artificial caste system. Notably some, as well as product of their hubris, have taken on a male dominated society where women are treated with less respect than their counter parts. Although, in the same facet of interest, some human societies have taken on female-dominated rulerships, and some within that have also excluded males entirely from their cultures.

Facial characteristics

Their facial characteristics are fairly plain. Soft, angular, round, or square, and their facial features can vary upon their heritage, too.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Throughout most of Archevon.

Average Intelligence

Humans in terms of intelligence have had the grace (or the insult) of being considered the average state of intelligence within Archevon. Not necessarily hyper intelligent such as some species, but normally not lacking the common sense not to stick their hand into a fire to check its temperature.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Humans have fairly impressive sensory capacity, ability to quickly notice patterns or listen for the slightest of shifts on the wind. In many ways, they are a jack of all trades, not terrible but not great in many ways.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Humans have domesticated many other creatures. Some, not as useful as others, are used as pack animals, butchered for food, or kept as pets.
