Summery of History.
The Northern Free holds, Nordas in elvish meaning Northern Lands, Frecka'Trim in Dwarvish meaning Land of Frozen Men. Freezing Cold for two fifths of the year and the most Northern point in the whole continent of Haran. Rocky and Grass covered hills roll over these northern shores, slowly turning into the foot hills of the Spider Mountains, then further south into the rolling plains of the Middle Free Holds. Home to hardy, gruff and independent peoples who to outsiders may seem rude but can be tender and kind to those they claim as their own. The Northern Free holds have had Kings and Queens from Stillare, Queen's Gate, Broadmoor and even those from their own land. However almost no one can hold on to their crown. Only one man could do so, Angus Horse-Breaker. According to the Empire one of the crudest, meanest, uncivilized men to ever walk on Orchards. He ruled his home city like an orc, beating those who disobey him into submission, taking any women he pleased and anything else he wanted aswell. Which according to the Empire included the Second Emperor's Empress-to-be.
The Men of Nordas, these frozen men know the truth. The Emperor had invited Angus to his Capital to parley with him, however once the Empress layed eye on him she could no longer look the her Emperor. Why? For her heart at the first sight of Angus Horse-Breaker made her heart melt for him. So once the parley was over, the pair ran away all the way back to the Northern Free Holds. So enraged by this act was the Second Emperor that he threatened to go to war over it. However during the parley that he had not days ago signed he swore not to go to war with the Northern Free Holds. So in the eyes of the Men of Nordas, the ink was not even dry before this foreigner this would-be-god-king had broken an oath he had made.
Thus causing the Northern Free Holds to go to war with the Empire. Not because of the Empress running off, not for Angus who they declared their king during the war, not to even stop the Empire from attacking them. All because the Emperor gave them an Oath, and then immediately broke it.
They lost that hard fought five year long war, but they made the empire bleed. The Empire of Haran could only take the Northern Free holds and hold onto them through force. It could not take Stillare or Broadmoor. Thus it remained in the Empires hands, one day however it's old ally Stillare would free them.
