10 Bars in Waynesburg
Here is a list of 10 of the best known bars in the city of Waynesburg.
1. The Dragon Inn - on the Riverside Promenade, in the Adventurer's Quarter, the largest, most notorious place in the Quarter, possibly the city. A vast complex - inn, restaurants, tavern - stables, outbuildings, secure rooms for let, etc. The main tavern, though, is dead center in the Quarter, and is always bustling.
2. Tommy's Tunes - on Alanis street between Falcon and Peregrine - an unassuming place that makes superb ribs and hosts nice low key musical performances. Sometimes, you will see someone famous, but most of the time, you will hear up and coming youngsters, looking for their chance.
3. Sookie’s Saloon - an eatery on the riverside promenade, not far from the Dragon Inn. The latter caters to any and all adventurers - Sookie’s tends to cater to a rougher crowd. Fighters, mercenaries, barbarians, knights - not entirely a dive, just a very manly and tough place. Thieves, wizards, bards, etc. tend to stay away unless they think they can win arm wrestling matches with stevedores.
4. Marlene’s - a massive, multifloor entertainment emporium down by the river in the Quarter, not exactly a brothel, featuring singing and dancing girls and “sophisticated” entertainment.
5. Fool’s Gold - the best known and most successful of the many gambling joints along the Riverside Promenade.
6. Woodsman’s Tavern - this is the main tavern/inn in the Hill area - the same function that the Dragon Inn serves across the river
7. The Thirsty Scholar - in the Old City, just down the hill from the University of St. Michael, another long standing tavern, catering to scholars and sages, clerks and students, musicians and poets and adventurers alike. Unassuming place, but popular. Looked down on by the academic elite, the magicians and theologians and lawyers, but better for it. Used to be the hangout for the Orbius crowd, back before the troubles, and they still keep reminding people of it.
8. The Hand - another bar by St. Michael's, this one run for and by wizards, and notorious for its politics. Bans women itself, and is run by the worst elements of the wizard's guild, who gather there to scheme against any liberalizing forces at the University, the city, the churches.
9. Botticelli’s - a musical venue in the Old City, out by the wall going west; a big place that books popular acts and favors a certain degree of showmanship. Gets a rowdy crowd of students, clerks and local working class. Like Marlene's, not exactly a brothel, but things can get out of hand.
10. Breadstick Café - a music venue up on top of the hill in the Old City, still in business after the troubles, still going strong. Rather exclusive, snobbish, secretive, a place for old bards to sing ancient ballads to an extremely polite audience of connoisseurs. Healthy food, expensive wine, suspicious women who can probably cast Eyebite on you if you misbehave.
