King

Hereditary ruler of a feudal Kingdom. A rank mostly observed in the Eastern Realms where many pretenders came and went over the centuries, making its definition subjective until more stable days finally came.

History

The title is said to have come about when a few of the Human First Sent claimed to be decendants of actual rulers in the Old World. A claim hard to prove with no way back home, which only allowed the more capable swindlers and brutes to prove their cases regardless of actual evidence.   After many a conflict thoughout the Crescent Basin between very small Kingdoms, Hegemonies formed that created more powerful alternatives and ended up adopting the title more properly. With the advent of the Francia Empire, Kings retained their rank but became subservient to a single Emperor or Empress, a situation that didn't last overly long. The betrayal of the Kings and their bickering which split their territories back into small chunks left deep memories into the realms' collective psyche. Kings and Queens are now revered titles only afforded to sufficiently sized realms.

Qualifications

Not dying upon being born. Not getting dishinherited by the Dynasty's leader. Unofficially, a strong mind and body are determinant in selecting the proper heir to this title. However, being a hereditary one, subjective bias isn't unheard of.

Requirements

The ability to have children, the absence of severe physical defects, sufficient mental and physical capacity. Other than that the title-succession is guaranteed depending on what specifics the realm's current ruler strives for.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

There are many possibilities that can lead to a King's term premature end. A faction appointing an elligible heir to the throne upon disatisfaction with a King or Queen's performance, with the liege's forces or diplomacies unable to enforce their rule.
