OrbitPunk Army Organization in Opposition: Mars | World Anvil

OrbitPunk Army

OrbitPunk Army (OPA) is the name of a Neo-punk band and the social movement centered around the band. OrbitPunk Army evokes a strongly anti-authority, anti-conformity, anti-establishment, and anti-Earth sentiment in their music and dress. OrbitPunk is most popular among youths living in orbital colonies, on Luna, and other extraterrestrial habitats. Curiously, there is a growing following among Earthborn youth as well.   Members of the movement are known as OrbitPunks. OrbitPunks can be identified by a unique manner and style of dress. Clothing will usually consist of military surplus, old work coveralls and vacuum equipment, simulated leather, and graphic shirts with provocative messages. Piercings and tattoos are common, as are clothes with integrated wearable technology and functional tattoos. OrbitPunk hairstyles consist of partially or fully shaved heads, sometimes coinciding with scalp tattoos.   Many governments consider the OrbitPunk Army at best to be a criminal organization, and at worst, a threat to national security. The OPA is well connected and has been identified at many protests and civil disturbances, with known high profile OrbitPunks acting as agitators for mob violence. Hacking is also a common pastime within the OrbitPunk Army, mainly as a means towards cyber-vandalism and other minor crimes. A few OPA groups have been busted participating in more high profile criminal activity such as remote piracy by way of hacking Freighters' nav systems.   As for the band itself, the OrbitPunk Army consists of a rotating membership of 4-12 anonymous individuals who rarely show their faces in public to avoid harassment or targeting by government agents (even though the band itself has not participated in nefarious activity). When OrbitPunk band members are identified, they tend to go to ground and leave the band for their own safety.
