Mendezian Spanish

Puerto Mendezians have developed a dialect of Spanish unique to life on Island 4 - Puerto Arnaldo Tamayo Méndez. The primary differences between Spanish spoken on the colony and terrestrial dialects are twofold: First, the significant population of Brazillian inhabitants of Puerto Mendez have had an influence on the form of Spanish spoken there. Second, new slang an expressions have supplanted many of the phrases used in Latin America. These new phrases tend to originate from the experiences of Puerto Mendezians as they deal with the rigors of life on a space station orbiting the Earth.
