Welcome to the continent of Belcantas, and the world of the mortals. It is year 1111 of the Age of Complexity, the age when the gods have finished shaping our world (but are far from through with meddling in it). Elves, humans, halflings and the rest live together in relative harmony. Resources are plentiful, and magic is stronger than ever. But always, always there are forces nipping at the heels of society: greedy despots, lurking horrors, and the long, shadowy arm of the underworld conspire to bring this golden age down.
