After a devastating drought caused by the environmental hazards created by humans, the land became barren of life and only the most adaptable creatures survived. This included the humans, unfortunately. Nature seems to be at constant war and the damage is irreversible.   Far east, away from the water, is where many humans found their permanent home in a sprawling city on the ground and in the sky. Though advertised as a place of dreams, the city provides a crime-ridden, capitalist life, unless one is lucky enough to live above the city.   The world is a mess and no one knows who broke it or how to fix it. Everyone's just trying to live and be the next big thing, but thats a far-fetched fantasy, just like it's always been.     In the middle of it all, Wren, a reclusive young human who lives in the mountains finds herself torn away from her only family: a rare mountain dragon. She manages to capture Riggs, the tracker of the band of poachers who stole the dragon, and finds that he is sympathetic to her cause. As they search for the dragon, Wren discovers how big the world beyond the mountains is, and how desperately it is in need of healing.
