The Gravedigger's Medallion

"And so say they say that the only cost of life itself is that of death and to be without one is to be without the other, forever and forever,in an eternal cruelty unbound."
The Gravedigger's Medallion is one of the seven @Hosts of the Covenant created when @King Simon Padrom of the @Spoke of Malliketh made a deal with the @First Pantheon to protect the city of Mira from the maddened rampage of the Lost Pantheon. This item is simply in construction, made of a flat golden material that does not shimmer, no matter the light, with a small blood red diamond nestled in the middle of a silver caste that is impossible to remove. The Medallion fits in the palm of one's hand, but is oddly heavy for its size and, in the night, glows a strange ethereal green when exposed to the moon. Legend has it this glow is the item's attempt to act as a beacon to the @God of Lost Things so that it can be found and returned to its rightful owner, but no one knows for sure.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Gravedigger's Medallion allows the wearer to claim immortality, as well as to grant it as a gift to others. Its upper limits are unknown, though it has been demonstrated to be able to artificially manipulate the lifespans of hundreds of soldiers on a semi-permanent basis.

Manufacturing process

The Medallion is less a physical object, in truth, and a more of an exemplar of concentrated Vion energy. This process by which Vion enters the mortal realm and constitutes itself as a solid object is called Coveninazation.

History

The Gravedigger's Medallion was created in the year 3 B.B (Before the Burn) in the @Church of the First Gods, nestled deep beneath the city of @Mira in the @Attaman's Catacombs, as a result of the Covenant made between King Simon Padrom and the God of Lost Things, Eloaye. Like the other six Hosts, the Gravedigger's Medallion is the result of the concentration of a strange cosmic energy called Vion, the substance believed to be utilized by the god's to hold the universe together lest it unravel as the seems. This Medallion was created as the third key and, if presented to the Gravedigger's seal, will unlock one of the seven keys of the Covenant that protect the city of Mira from the Burn outside of the @Blackwall.   The Medallion, as a key, serves as the antithesis to the purpose of the Covenant, meaning that it allows its wearer to skirt the effects of aging and death and, in turn, to control the passage of life for those around them.   After engaging in the Covenant with the First Gods, Simon Padron gathered the seven keys and, in an hour of late contemplation, decided to gather a band of his most trusted advisors and bind them at the bottom of the far, distant Mount Viavasu, the world's largest and most dangerous volcano, believed to play host to the King of the Giants of the Flame. This band of seven, one year before the Burn, became known as the @Gang of Locks and set out from Mira so that the the seals that protected the city could never be undone. However, the Lock was broken and Simon was slain by his brother and best friend, @Peter Padrom, at the base of @Mount Viavasu, who believed that the people of Mira could use the keys to better the world and combat the Burn to come. Peter returned to Mira with the Medallion and the other Keys and presented the Medallion to @Queen Padrom of Spoke Malliketh as a sign of fealty.   The Queen once again ordered the Keys scattered and banished Peter to beyond the wall for his treachery, though she opted to keep the Gravedigger's Medallion for herself, the thought of immortality far too tempting to give up.   When the Burn came, the Queen ruled Mira and the seals held and, in response to this success as the rest of the world suffered a fate unimaginable, Queen Padrom declared that it was her husband's will that the Spoke Malliketh reign eternal with her at its head. Over the coming days, the Queen gathered four representatives of the other Spokes, as well as the head Chancellor of @Isaleth University and promised them eternal life if they served as her advisors for as long as she reigned. Fearing reprisal, they accepted and the Queen used the Gravedigger's Medallion to make it so.   In the year 103 A.B (After the Burn), Mira was attacked by the Blood King Beyond the Wall, who would later revealed to be Peter Padrom, empowered by a demonic pact of his own. In the War of the Black Rose, the Queen would utilize the powers of the Gravedigger's Medallion to turn her armies into immortal undead warriors. At the war's conclusion, the Queen would use the power of the Gravedigger's Medallion to keep Peter Padrom's head alive in a cage near her throne as a warning to others that might usurp her, as well as to create an elite corps of immortal soldiers bound to her personally known as the Gravediggers.   It currently resides with the Immortal Queen of Mira, Elisabeth Padrom of Spoke Malliketh.

Significance

The Medallion functions of a Key to the Seals that keep Mira safe from the outside world affected by the Burn. If the Gravedigger's Medallion is presented to the Third Seal, the city of Mira will become vulnerable to astral attacks from beyond the Blackwall.

Raw materials & Components
Though the Gravedigger's Medallion is ostensibly constructed of an unassuming light-weight golden alloy, it truly is constructed of a strange cosmic energy known as Vion, a fundamental creation influenced radiation present at the birth of the universe that is believed to be utilized by the Pantheons to engage in spontaneous generation.
Tools
The Gravedigger's Medallion was created as the result of a Covenant with a powerful deity. Covenants are never permanent and always, by divine law, must have a method to be undone and both parties released from its bindings. Oftentimes, these Covenants generate an object or a talisman that will directly counteract the effects of the deal in order to maintain universal balance. Therefore, the Medallion is a one in a million item generated in the process of a one in a million deal.
