Human, Self-controlled Variant

Self-controlled variant humans, also called SCs or "Essies," are humans with superhuman abilities. Most notably, they have control over their abilities and are able to gain mastery over them. Every Essie's powers are unique and thus far no one has discovered any link between an individual's DNA and their abilities, if any. Essies compose about 1% of the human population of the Omoia Alliance.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Some Essies are physically indistinguishable from regular humans, while other posses extra limbs, altered skeletal structures, scales, gills, etc. New morphologies are constantly being discovered.

Biological Traits

Every Essie possesses at least one unique trait that distinguishes them from a normal human. These traits manifest as a limitless myriad of superhuman powers.

• Essies with the ability to teleport are used to shuttle humans and goods across the various planets of Astrae.

• Essies with powers useful in terraforming were exploited during the expansion period.

• Essies with abilities allowing for the manipulation of matter are used as construction labor.

• Essies with useful and powerful abilities are recruited by the government as superhero figures known as Astraenauts.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Most Essies have average human senses, but others have powers that directly amplify or alter any/all of their sensory capabilities. Some Essies with "advanced mind" powers have telepathic or empathic capabilities.
