Shelter 19
Shelter 19 was once a massive shelter that belonged to the Deepcore Foundation, having been emptied out by the survivors of World War III and turned into a marketplace for those living in the town of Chelburg.
History
Shelter 19 was originally established as a bunker for people afraid for their lives to hide in once World War III began. After the war passed and people slowly left the bunker to begin surviving in the remains of Chelburg; people would occasionally find a random use for the shelter that included extra housing for those travelling through town or as a storage room. It wouldn't be until 1976, a year after Cigarettes became the currency of the land, that the starry-eyed mayor of Chelburg at the time, Alec Peterson, decided that, to capitalize on the upcoming economy that was suddenly sprung on them; they would convert Shelter 19 into a shopping district! After some convincing, he managed to get several other people to open up shops down in the shelter.
Tourism
There are plenty of shops located within Shelter 19, which plenty of people visit on a daily basis to get their supplies and other tools that are needed for survival. Most of these shops tend to get their supplies via trading or from Searchers who have taken on requested jobs from the owners. The most noteworthy shops located here include:
- Steve's Rat Farm
- Regional Toolshop
- The Edenite Shoppette
- The Butchery
- Haruno's Tea Shop
- Old Timey Music Shop
- Tapes
- Frozen Core Grocery
- 24/7 Veggies
Architecture
To enter the shelter, one must enter a cave that is located near the center of Chelburg. After travelling downward for a minute, they will find a large door that will lead inside the shelter. The walls are all metallic while the floor is lined with a hard concrete, the iridescent lights on the ceiling illuminating the area. Supporting the large shelter and keeping its structure intact are Depthmektal bars located pretty much everywhere behind the walls.

Ha I love the idea that a once shelter has now been turned into a shopping district. That's such an interesting thought.
