Richelle Rivers
Captain Richelle Spade Rivers (a.k.a. The Last Pirate Queen)
Once a well-respected yet feared pirate, now a mysterious enigma whom has descended into legend. One of the last legendary pirates of the sea in the Last Age Of Piracy, she sailed around the world; bringing terror onto those who would challenge her and her crew. She sailed a ship known only as The Crimson King, of which could tear through the ocean and rival ships like they were paper.
According to legend, she slayed a mysterious beast that had been plauging the seas known as the Leviathan, though what she did with it's corpse remains a mystery. Furthermore; it's said that she disappeared for a time after an encounter with the Leviathan, returning from a world she had described as such:
It was beautiful, yet stricken with terror, of which I lost what I hadn't known I needed.

Personal history
Not much is known about her personal history before she became a pirate. It's said that as a kid, she was born in an orphanage located in either Poland, the United Kingdom, or the United States in the late 19h century; estimated around 1870 - 1880. She either stayed in the orphanage until she became 16; or she sneaked out of the orphanage and lived on her own in the streets. What she did during that time is unknown; however, records from the time state that she would wind up working at a port in the town she lived in.
She would turn up in various ports around the world; working as a crew member of whatever ship she happened to be on. She had used many false identities to get onto these ships, faking that of many men and women just to get the right job. People whom she worked with would describe her as ferocious and hard-working, but distant to those around her for a reason that none could quite pin down.
Around the age of 24, she would make an infamous name for herself after setting fire to a ship she was stationed on, lighting it ablaze. The ship; allegedly, held slaves that were intended to be shipped to the Americas. She freed them, then destroyed the ship; making sure every last bit of it went down to the bottom of the sea. While the governments at the time considered her a criminal, she would begin to rally people behind her. Eventually, she managed to procure a ship of her own, a galleon, and use it to get around.
While some people claim that the Last Age Of Piracy began because of her, none can really say for sure; only that pirate activity picked up shortly after her antics. She would lead wonderfully coordinated raids against other ships, managing to steal all sorts of goods from them and sell them on whatever black market she was able to get to. It's said that she only had two mutinies thrown against her, the first of which ended peacefully; while the second one ended with her tossing the instigator of it into the ocean.
When the turn of the century approached, she; her crew; and her entire ship disappeared for a period of time; starting from 1898 and returning in 1900. Where she went is unknown, though stories she would tell involve her apparently travelling to another world, one where there were twin moons rotated around the world and magic roamed free; yet a tragic world where she lost "Something she hadn't known she needed". Shortly after this, she would procure a new ship; The Crimson King, though all known record of what it looked like remains lost. What is known, however, is that it was akin to a ghost ship; able to disappear and reappear wherever and whenever.
Her history became rather muddied around this time. She would have three children from 1918-1920, though the husbands she had remain a mystery; though it is known that she married at one point and changed her last name to Shepard. Even stranger; one of her children would be born as a Nymph, with no known explanation for how this occured. The children would be known as Nyx Shepard, Adrianna Shepard, and Steven Shepard. She would take them around the world with her, sailing the seven seas in a relative peace.
In 1939, she would be seperated from Nyx and Steven Shepard, the latter two making their own lives on Moonglow Isle in the Bermuda Triangle; never seeing them again. After she was seperated from them, she would move to the town of Moonblight, where she would live out the rest of her days, watching over her daughter and the children. Where she is buried is unknown.

'When the turn of the millennium approached' - I think you mean 'century' here. What a cool lady. I love the air of legend and mystery about her, and I could definitely see many books being written in-world about her and her exploits. I think the most intriguing thing is about her and the three brothers. I'm very curious.
Oop, I did. Thank you for catching that, haha Oh yeah, there'd probably be several stories told by those who know of her story, or have even met the legend herself.
