The three moons begin to slowly glide along the sky as faint light falls upon the sprawling city of Ardissa. The sounds of the coast engulfs the Vereti Capital. Towering spires of intricately carved stone cast grand shadows like elongated fingers that curl around buildings. Homes stand abandoned to gather dust in disrepair, their occupants were the victims of a horrendous plague. Guards patrol the empty streets as the lights of a nearby oil lamp flicker. When they turn their backs to a alleyway a thief clad in leather stalks out across the cobbled street.   Frontiersmen in the Chillwind Desert huddle around a fire within their cabin in a small hunting camp. They huddle around the warm blaze as the leg of a large bovine spins on a spit. They sing an old tune in their Karsa tongue as they sip on a fine Farwinder Brew. They feel safe as a snowstorm spins outside and powerful winds whip around the building. Inside of their wooden building, they feel safe within their camp. However, they remain ignorant of the large creature that stalks outside waiting for them to leave the safety.   A doctor sits in his office. He sits in front of an open window as the cool ocean breeze sweeps across the coast of Marceas. He opens up his journal and carefully records his notes from the procedure. The light of the candle shines off of the leather coat on the back of his chair as a pale leather mask swings from a hook on the wall. After transcribing his findings he puts his coat back on, plucks his mask from the wall, and sees the bloodsucker stationed before him on his doctor's table. Incisions expose the insides of the humanoid creature as the signs of the disease become more evident. He puts his mask back on and returns to his work.   Over 100 years ago, mortal life was nearly destroyed at the hands of beings more powerful than one can ever imagine. Grand deities battled against beings of similar power who wished to gain power and their own wishes at the cost of all mortal life. At the cost of countless lives, both mortal and everlasting, the apocalypse was halted and the world was saved. However, like a scar shows what used to be an old wound, the world was forever changed. Old faiths began to fail as the gods who were the focus were slain, this led to new beings coming to the forefront seeking the seat of the dead immortals. Plagues stick to the land as diseases infect mortal life, be they poor and unfortunate, or wealthy and powerful. The land scarred by weapons and powers unimaginable by human minds to forever sit as harsh or extreme landscapes. The aura of death still holds grip of the planet, and the memories still remain etched in the memories of many as stories are told or people simply cannot forget.   Kingdoms, organizations, and conflicts are constants that remain from the old world, and they will remain when the apocalypse comes again. However, the setting for these constants is a new world with some similarities to the old, but new dangers lurking beneath the ground, among the stars, and in the flesh of men could serve as new challenges for these old ideals.
