Blem is a traveling merchant of magical wares. He is a bit older than middle aged and has seen most of the world. His memory is not the greatest in recent years and he has a habit of forgetting his only child is an adult living on his own. Players will be able to run into him on the occasion and purchase his standard wares along with level appropriate items. For the right price and / or spell components, he can offer spell services as well.

Physical Traits

Blem is 5'4" tall and weighs 148lbs. He is a citrus colored bearded dragon with pale yellow scales on most of his body. On his back are a speckling of orange scales. Alternating bands of yellow and orange scales line the length of his tail. His eyes are a bright amber. There are several chemical burn scars he obtained from years of experimenting and crafting.

Personality and Style

A forever curious introvert, Blem is a fairly quiet fellow. Unless he gets worked up thinking his son is missing, then he'll badger you until he is calmed. Ever since he could read, he's had his snout buried in some book or another. Even in his older age, he is constantly learning and working out new spells to scribble down in his spell book. He prefers quiet moments in a study with a cup of tea and bowl of berries over bustling social events.
Blem enjoys eating blueberries and crickets, reading, hot tea, taking naps in the sun, sharing his love of magic with others, and crafting. On a good day he's laid back and relaxed. If any of his favorite topics pop up in conversation, he could babble on excitedly all night. He loves visiting any bath houses or hot springs that pop up along his travels.
There isn't much variety to Blem's wardrobe. He wears cloaks and a wizard hat. They're usually blue or purple. Along his waist is a pouched belt where he stores his spell components. He wears a backpack turned bag of holding to store his wares and everything he could need while traveling. A silver locket hangs from his neck. It contains an old picture of his son and now late wife. He never removes it.

His Story

Blem was born to Roggle and Sandi Bristlebeard in the coastal city of Thumdim on the island of Ukrix. He is the eldest of two children. His sister Citrine is five years younger than him. He was a quiet child, preferring to play by himself. If he wasn't at the library, he would either be locked away in his room or scouring their backyard for ingredients to experiment with. Seeing how happy he was, his parents allowed him to pursue whatever academic or magical interests suited his fancy.
After primary education, Blem enrolled at the Luminous University in order to pursue advanced magical knowledge. All of his professors adored him. He even befriended the librarians and archivists. During this time he apprenticed as a wizard and leaned towards the school of transmutation. Creating and changing things always fascinated him. He received his first spell book upon graduation.
Before settling down, Blem decided to go on a few adventures. He wanted to play around with his new found powers and get a feel for what the world had to offer. After a near death experience from stumbling into a cult's hideout in a cave, he decided the adventurer's life was not quite for him. He returned to Shimmerwick and applied to work as a professor at the university. During this time he met his wife Sunny. She worked as the school's head librarian. They would have lively conversations on various topics and she fell for him over the course of his first year teaching.
They dated for two years and married in midsummer. In the fall of the next year, Blem Jr. was born. He is their only child. They loved him dearly and gave him as many good life experiences as possible. Sunny fell ill when Jr. was five. Blem retired from the university and moved his family back to his hometown. He hoped the hotter weather would help Sunny recover. It did seem to help as her sprits lifted for a time. However, her illness was still not well researched and she passed on in late winter of the following year.
Blem was rightfully devastated, but did his best to stay strong for his six year old son. They stayed in Thumdim and made a memorial for Sunny in their yard. Blem registered with the Artisan's Guild and became a merchant. He sold items and components from a small stall in front of his house while Jr. was still a child. During this time he made sure to take great care of the blueberry garden his wife started. These are one of his shop's staples and are high quality. 
Once Jr. grew up and moved out, Blem stayed in Thumdim for another year. The house was too quiet and too empty for his liking. He may be an introverted wizard, but he still missed his family and the warmth it brought to the home. He kept the house so he had a study to return to. Blem takes regular trips home to check on the garden and maintain Sunny's memorial. A good friend watches over the house otherwise and makes sure the blueberry plants stay healthy throughout the year. Otherwise, he travels across Omari at a leisurely pace and sells his wares to fellow travelers or out of his portable stall that he sets up outside of towns.
