Aizuni Ethnicity in Omari | World Anvil

Aizuni

We are a close community. No member's life is less valuable than another.
This is a small elven culture that originates from an archipelago in the middle of the ocean. Like many others, their homeland was lost to the water. This forced them to migrate to the new lands of Omari. Survivors formed new small communities where they continue to thrive in modern times.

Values

The Aizuni are a caring and gentle people. Each member is loved and cared for no matter their contribution. They value a hard day's work, but never force people to work beyond their means or abilities. Overworking / burnout is discouraged.   They also believe in caring for the earth and keeping nature clean. Members do their best to keep waste to a minimum. Any animal hunted will have all of its parts used. Farmers rotate their crops and avoid producing excess when possible.   Community is also important. Members do their best to watch out for one another. Co-parenting is common; willing individuals take turns raising the children. The elderly and disabled are valued and looked after with great care.

Equal Footing

There are no enforced gender roles within their community. Everyone is able to take on any job that falls within their interests and capabilities. Chores are usually evenly distributed within households and alternated on a regular basis.

Stories and Music

The Aizuni culture values storytelling and the arts just as much as nature. It plays an integral part of their history. Folktales and histories alike are passed down orally. There is always a communal area where they gather to play music, sing, dance, and pass on these stories.   A unique drum originates from this culture. It is created by hollowing out a log, leaving various thin panels on top to be hit with a stick. They come in different sizes, often set up together to offer a range of varying sounds. Most drums are decorated with paint and carvings of different important symbols.
