Tinmoutbu
When people say "the middle of nowhere" or "the frontier" what settlement name do they use?
Most people in Seclora have heard of Tinmoutbu and only a select few have been to the small port town. Despite being the final settlement along the Tjenerenssjøvei, few ships sail the remainder of seaway to its true terminus - De Onbekende Kust.
The trade post is the established "neutral ground" for the import/export of goods between Seclora and De Onbekende Kust.
Arrangement
Two heavily reinforced, 30 ft tall stone walls bisect Tinmoutbu. Starting about 200 ft into the ocean, the walls run perpendicularly to the coast. Together they form a 400 ft wide "no-man's land" between the two halves of the settlement. The walls diverge at their deepest inland point to wrap back around their respective portion of Tinmoutbu. Only one building resides in the space between the two walls - a 80 ft x 30 ft wooden structure - where the two groups conduct their business dealings. Elsewise each side of the line is a twisted reflection of the other. A main thorough fare runs from each dock through their respective portion of the town to the main iron gate that leads to the aforementioned building. Warehouses, stables, and residences fill the rest of the space.Demographics
Only 50% of the posts demographics are known to Seclora and the Barnema Trade Company.
Elf and Human representatives facilitate the trade negotiations with their peers from De Onbekende Kust. A small Gnome population serve as scribes, accountants, ledger keepers, and dock masters. A comparatively large contingent of Dwarf serve as guards, para military, and slave enforcers. An equally large group of Halfling provide the requisite slave labour for the entire operation.
Defences
Each wall is continuously patrolled by well trained and equally well armed individuals. Large siege weapons atop and behind each wall to be aimed at each other or out to sea.
Industry & Trade
Both the Barnema Trade Company and the envoys from De Onbekende Kust send their delegations and trade wares through their gate to the lone building between the walls. If a deal is successful, gold and goods change hands or conveyences and then departs through the opposite gate. Each side has a combination of flaggers and signal fires to alert their wall to the status of negotiation or danger/hostile action. The same system can be used to facilitate trade between ships on the open water by relaying messages through their respective seaside parapets.
