Stonemark

Stonemark is one of the largest cities in the Aldastraza Empire, second only to the capital Dresna City. It is notable for bordering the Soltus empire and for its worship of the deity Berronar Truesilver, which is not one of the original deities of the world.

History

Stonemark was originally named Stonemark Keep and was established during the Age of Fire. It was constructed as a heavily fortified area carved mainly out of stone to become a safe haven against the dragons. Towards the end of the Age of Fire, it was partially destroyed during the Siege of Stonemark Keep, in which the followers of Rekvul Tarzonis sieged the keep, though they eventually retreated.
Stonemark Keep was still used as a settlement during the following years, but it was more of a stopping point for travelers rather than a fully realized community. During the Second Age of War, Stonemark was rebuilt into a full-fledged city using resources provided by Gadelina, a project headed by Norastrova Earthcarver. Stonemark was rebuilt using newer building methods on top of the old foundation, causing it to be split into two areas - the Old Keep and the New City. Norastrova also asserted that rebuilding the city was guided by the hand of Berronar Truesilver, a goddess that is said to be the wife of Moradin, though scholars heavily debate the existence of her.
However, Novastrova amassed a strong following for Berronar, being a well-known priestess that preached her words, and these followers were the foundation fo Stonemark's new community. From there, the religion became more prevalent and soon the city became a beacon for followers of Berronar, despite her not being publicly recognized elsewhere. She is referred to by many as one of the Regional Deities of the world.
Norastrova was one of the first people inducted to the Seven Masters, members who make up the council of Aldastraza and make political decisions for the nation.
