Splitter

"There is no army on earth that can oppose my horde! As even if you could over come one single solider of mine; you cut one dow-two more will take it's place!" -Unknown

The splitter is a genetically engineered undead monster that will be developed in Paradox Testing Labs in one future timeline. Due to the nature of the rifts, occasionally these grim reminders of the possible fate of the world occasionally spill through into 'the past'. Beware these monsters, as a variety of scenarios may make them significantly more dangerous. For one; these zombies are not magical by nature, and are thus semi-infectious. They can propagate other zombies by killing humanoids and animals alike (thankfully monstrous creatures like chimeras seem to be immune to this).

Second; The nature of thier infection is parasitic in nature. Each splitter contains two parasites of the same genome. when the host is struck down, the splitter will mutate in an act that tears the body in half, resulting in two mutated humanoid creatures. Thankfully; these forms are no stronger than the original and cannot split further.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Akin to humanoids in their first form, indestinguishable from ordinary corpses or zombies. In thier second form one half of each split portion is incredibly fleshy, with limbs more akin to tentacles

Growth Rate & Stages

As previously stated lethal damage will trigger a mitosis-like mutation, splitting the host into two halves.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Enhanced smell for blood.
A splitter uses the same statistics as a zombie (monster manual) with the following additional traits. Its CR is also 3 (700xp)
[ br] Features: Infectious: Humanoid, beast, and dragon-typed creatures slain by this creature Become the zombie equivalent of that creature-with the exception that they also gain this trait.
Mutation ε: When reduced to 0 hit points, this creature must make a constitution saving throw equal to 10 or  half the damage taken by the last attack (whichever is higher, and the save maximum is 25). On a success the creature 'splits' into two copies that have full health. those splitters do not have this trait, however. In addition, a Splitter killed by fire or acid damage may not use this ability. If any copies survive for at least 24 hours without being slain they also gain the mutation ε trait.
