Naming Traditions

A Orc's name will change during it's life time. Before it becomes a mother or father the orc wont be given a name but will take on either the fathers name or the mothers name but adding "Maz" for son or "Zit" for daughter in front of that name to represent being there mother or fathers child. Once the Orc have children of it's own it will be allowed to grant itself a name it fills fitting.   It is not uncommon for siblings to have the same name and in those cases a nickname is given to each one. These nicknames are small and always ends with "ar" and starts with a simple syllable like Ak, Ov, Sa, Tu, Va, Ho, Ku and Fu. These nicknames are not seen as real names and will tell most Orc's and Half-orcs that the individual is still not a adult.

Gender Ideals

Male

Males are expected to protect the family, to hunt and to bring honor to the clan. Males are not expected to deal with what is know as "pure magic" this refers to the type of magic that Wizards, Druids, Clerics, Bards and Sorceresses deal with. Males are instruments meant for war and conquering and they better fit themselves dealing with the physicals and material threats the clan face.

Female

Females are expected to nourish and mentor the young while serving the clan the best they can. Females are usually the spiritual leaders and high mages of the clan, and almost all female orcs know a little bit of magic. Females are instruments meant for the soul and body, they should care for the need of the spiritual, magical and otherworldly threats of the clans.

Relationship Ideals

Marriage with a single partner in Orc's communities are uncommon but poly based marriages are also uncommon. Orc relationships are fleeting and in the moment, never requiring loyalty from either part and will only continue as long as both sides wants to. When a child is born it is customary to give the child away to be raised by the mothers mom, if that is not possible it will be given to a aunt of the mother or the mother of the father if that is the closest female relative.
