Combone

The Kingdom of Combone was created by the first King of Humanity, King Jor Doerday. Before becoming a Kingdom, Combone had previously been conquered by Giants, and before even that, by Dwarves. In fact, Combone is corrupted from the name Dwarves gave the region during their rule, Komboahin (Literally meaning "Human-land").   Combone was made up of three smaller regions, then called the Petty Kingdoms of Holcomb, Delcomb, and Suterbay. Lord Governor at the time, Jor Doerday, declared that himself King and the territory he ruled over his Kingdom. This action, referred to now as the Central Throne Decree, was opposed by the Giants to whom he swore fealty.

The War for Combone

When the Central Throne Decree first started making the rounds, many noble leaders were quick to sign in--the authority and power a noble had during Giant rule was nearly none, and the prospect of additional influence was hard to ignore. Trouble arose, however, in the third proposed region of Combone: Suterbay. Up to this point, Suterbay was ruled by a Lord Governor its very own. Lord Governor Sey Goldbloom sought help from Giant overlords, but nearly all of the Giants' armies were away, fighting with Orcs in the North. They were indisposed.   What few Giants remained on continent rushed to join Sey Goldbloom's army (or, rather, commandeer it) and wage war on the other two regions, Holcomb and Delcomb, which had by then agreed to unite.    The war was hard-fought and expensive. Only so much Dwarven bronze could be distributed at a time, making armies small and underequiped. It was then that, out of desperation, King Jor began looking for other metals to use in warfare during his offtime. Eventually, he found that iron was the perfect solution. Iron was easy enough to acquire, cheaper, more common, and sturdy enough to hold up to bronze. Thus, iron was mass-mined from everywhere that could potentially produce some, and within a few months, Jor's armies were fully equipped while his enemies were two soldiers to a spear. This, more than anything else, decided the war's outcome.   The war had reached its final battle--one over Suterbay's Seat of Power--when King Jor was struck by an arrow from one of his own soldiers. While many accounts say he died then, in battle, some say he lived for a week or more after the battle's conclusion, just long enough to see victory, then died from a disease that infected his wound. Whatever the case, as per the rules of inheritance, the three Petty Kingdoms were inherited by his next of kin. First, his two daughters, who inherited Holcomb and Delcomb, then his Nephew, who inherited Suterbay.
