Oceania

Five major land masses are scattered across the known world each ringed with a fringe of smaller islands that spread out from the main island.   Each island is dependent on its neighbors for trade and alliances. Sea trade is common but piracy is rife in the outer islands.   Each of the main islands is a kingdom in its own right with varying degrees of control and law. The further from the main islands the weaker the hold of central rule and small independent colonies thrive, compete and challenge authority.
