Kingom of Growth

Kingdom of growth is the biggest Eraati faction, spread throughout most of the Green Island. It is the only major faction in Ocean of myths that has monarchy.

Government and officials:

The government, as mentioned, is a monarchy. People don't choose their ruler, as Eraati believe in individuality and individual choices. This also affects how a new ruler is chosen.
The King and/or Queen decide on laws and manage their faction at the top. They often put out laws in a testing period to see how people respond to them, then they decide, often a few weeks later, if they remove or keep said law.

Economy:

The faction's economy is doing decently and rises very slowly. The faction uses wooden and dirt coins covered in metal as a Currency.

Earning money:

Money are mostly used to stabilize trading. People exchange goods for other goods and add in coins if one good is worth more than the other.
Same with payment. People received goods with added coins, whenever it is trading, working for the government or another person.

Trading:

People trade by either setting up a stand in a public area, or just put up a sign next to their home, notifying people about what they offer. Some set a price for their goods, others negotiate it. Many also take requests from customers.

The rich:

Outside of being born to a rich family, some people capitalize on their work, by offering unique goods and/or services. Others grow into a full company with workers, but that occurs very rarely. In some religions, the officials tend to become rich from exploits, donations, their own taxes or other means.

The poor:

Most people are poor and don't have much. Thankfully in this system, it is pretty easy to live off of nature and earn enough for other things such as food, tools and clothes. Money is rarely an issue and even then, people support each other in many ways, greatly equalizing living standards.

Taxes:

The government requires a certain amount (often small) of goods and/or money from each member of the faction, each month. When someone is unable to pay taxes, they can either get the required goods from other people or become exempt from taxes each third month.

Military:

The military is pretty lacking, yet formidable. They use guerilla tactics and many different defensive strategies. The military doesn't have any proper means or resources to attack other factions.

Military structures:

  • They are: Tunnel system, Tree fortress, Crumbling watchtower, Trap field

Military officials:

Guerilla defense strategy:

The military is expert at defence. They utilize a wide variety of traps and their land. Soldiers operate in secret and even infiltrate enemy ranks, sabotaging them from inside. The military can turn their own homesand forests into places filled with traps and hidden bunkers. Or even hide among regular people.
Their strategy is to kill as many enemies without loosing many of their own, by utilizing other means than soldiers.

Laws:

Laws rely on secret guards to be enforced. A hamerrer decides on offender's guilt and gives out appropriate punishment. The secret guards are trusted in arresting the right person and their crime is almost never investigated.
Children are exempt from some laws up to a certain age or adulthood.
(more about punishments for breaking the law here:Punishments)

Each to their own:

People can do what they want as long as it doesn't affect anyone else and is withing the law.

Marriage:

Marriage is sealed after the Eraati marriage ritual. Without the ritual, the marriage is falsified.
  • The offender will be split for a decided amount of time, often 2-5 years.

Protect the nature:

Sensless harming of nature, such as poisoning or burning down forests is prohibited.
  • The offender, depening on the crime will be fined, or might even lose a few fingers.

New ruler:

Once the current King and/or Queen dies, the next person to proclaims to be the new ruler at the palace will be so. (Ruler's death often leads to a spree of murders of the new rulers, until it settles and others give up.)
  • Refusing to recognize a new ruler is punishable by imprisonment or death.

Betrayal:

Betrayal of the kingdom is considered sharing secret, sensitive and military information, meeting with an enemy army or nation outside of diplomacy, attempt at assasination of a kingdom official and speaking against the kingdom.
  • Offender can be jailed from 5 up to 50years, or outright executed with their property siezed in the worst cases.

Prostitution:

Prostitute who is offering payed services needs to register first, before offering their services, and adds 10% of their earnings to taxes.
  • Offender will be fined when not registered and forced to register, plus pay a fine. In terms of taxes, the offender will be forced to pay 15% and jailed on multiple offenses.

Rape:

Rape is illegal and seen as one of the worst crimes, as it takes away the free choice from the other person.
  • The offender will be jailed or executed in the worst cases.

Theft:

Theft, as in most places, is illegal. Thieves are seen as lowest of lows, for taking things from others who worked hard to obtain them.
  • The punishent depends on the severity. Punishment can rnage from a cut off finger to a whole arm.

Murder:

Murder is one of the worst, if not the worst crime.
  • The offender is hanged from a tree from his legs, until he dies, often of dehydration.

Monarch murder:

Murering a King and/or Queen has one of the worst punishments.
  • The offender will be tortured to death in the slowest and most painful way possible. Every torture method is permitted.

Faction event:

Day of the Monarchs:

Once a year, for a day, people celebrate their King and/or Queen. Decorations are put up around settlements and people celebrate for the whole day. Mainly by using their free time as they see fit.

Faction issues/struggles:

Lack of development:

The faction's people, while using modern tools and other equipment, lack behind. People still live in isolated communities and live in primitive housing. The gab compared to other civilizations is only widening as time goes on. Eventually the gap might get so wide, the faction becomes a pushover as falls to it's enemies.
