Tassils

The Tassils are defined throughout their lives by movement, either in caravans across the Wild Lands or on ship in the Sea of Serpents. Though they usually have a permanent residence in the land of the Spice Kings, men and women both are expected to travel the breadth of the world. This travel means your average Tassil will have an anecdote for every occasion and speak at least a spattering of phrases in any language you could provide them.

Culture

Art & Architecture

Tassil culture takes full advantage of the immense wealth generated by its trade empire. Houses and shops are adorned with bronze statues depicting religious and cultural stories. Most often they take the form of humanoid figures mid dance and surrounded by halos, rays of light, or other indicators of power. Most citizens of even modest wealth wear gold jewelry set with rubies and emeralds.   It is also considered a social faux pas to leave walls barren in Tassil lands. All but the most destitute buildings are decorated with statues, tapestries, or painted murals. The exceptionally rich engrave into the stone of the building itself giving the impression that the construction is built out of an arrangement of statues.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Tassil worship and life style is arranged around reciprocal relationship both between individual humans and between mortals and their gods. This belief is structured such that whoever initiates an exchange should also be the first to offer payment. Before any favor is asked a gift must be given, before any prayer one should give a sacrifice.   This also applies to negative reciprocity. No wrong can be left to fester. Those who have harmed others must seek out reconciliation and compensation with their victims. If a perpetrators fails in this regard their victims must seek to extract justice.
