Special Materials

Mithral

Mithral is a silvery metal found only across the sea in the mountains of Legar. It is lighter than steel but just as strong.

Weapons made from mithral weigh half as much as their equivalent forged from steel. Additionally mithral weapons are considered one size lighter for the purposes of two-weapon fighting or how many hands are required to wield them. Two-handed weapons are considered one-handed weapons and one-handed weapons are considered lighted weapons. Additionally when the speed enchantment is applied to a mithral weapon it is a +2 price modifier bonus instead of a +3 bonus.

Ancient Cedar/Primordial Bones

Wood harvested from the Great Cedar Forest, as well as the bones of its monstrous inhabitants, can be used in the creation of weapons that would normally be able to made of wood or bone. Its bonuses apply even if the weapon has some components made of differing material such as a steel spear head, but cannot be combined with other special materials such as mithral. A weapon incorporating either material is able to ignore all divine and profane bonuses to armor class or saves when attacking or when used to channel a special ability. So for instance a magus using spell strike through a sacred cedar spear would be able to ignore a paladin's divine grace for his spell's saving throw.

Earth Vein Steel

The Stygians possess a unique form of steel possessing enormous tensile and ductile strength. The iron used in its forging is mined up from their mountains as thin tubes over a mile long, hence its name. Its great strength allows for weapons much longer and thinner than would normally be possible.

These weapons have reach 5 feet longer than those made of normal steel. Additionally each attack made with an earth vein weapon can hit two adjacent foes rather than just one. The attack is rolled separately against each target. Earth vein steel can only be applied to melee weapons.

Due to their long and unwieldy nature earth vein weapons impose a -4 penalty on attack rolls unless you have the exotic weapon proficiency (earth vein weapons) feat.

Heroic Bronze

As the Dawn Age gave way to the Age of Empires, hundreds of once independent city states were incorporated into great continent spanning nations. The inexorable tide of history swallowed up regional freedoms and identities that could not match the might of national confederacy. In spite of its inevitability there were some who fought back with bronze spear and shield. They stood as singular heroes against multitudinous hordes, dying to the last for the independence and homes they so cherished. The blood of those heroes consecrated the bronze of their armaments, giving all subsequent wielders some measure of its masters' courage.

Anyone who wields items of heroic bronze finds it to be as strong and durable as steel, but awakens its true power only when outnumbered and without any allies at hand. So long as no allies are with 15 feet of the wielder they gave a scaling divine bonus based to an ability based on what sort of item they wield. They gain a +1 divine bonus for each enemy within 15 feet of them which applies to hit and damage if the heroic item is a weapon, armor class if the item is armor, and reflex saves if the item is a shield.
