Palens (Hellbred)

Taking their name from an archaic word for battlefield entrenchments and fences, Palens are the inhabitants of war-torn central Occidentia. Even before the Awakening they were a people defined by constant conflict, in the present age they have been consumed by it. While some communities survive on the margins as free peoples, most have come under the iron-fisted rule of Dominon or one of the lesser wizard tyrants.

I've met my Quota- There is a cultural understanding among Palens of life's hardships. It's not your place to cause someone else harm or obstruction unless you are compelled by coercion. This applies even to people who would be enemies in the course of their normal duties, such as soldiers from rival city-states and off-duty members of secret police forces.

Duck and Cover

Palens have learned how to use even the most insignificant bits of obstruction as cover from the blasts and bolts of their homeland. As an immediate action any native of The Hundred Tyrants or Dominon can take an immediate action to gave cover from a single attack or damaging area of effect which they would be affected by. This choice must be made before the attack is rolled or a save is made.
