Odysseus

Odysseus is less known for his church than he is as a dramatic device in popular fiction. It is common to the point of cliché for Odysseus to appear at the beginning of the third act in plays and novels to empower the protagonist who is at their lowest point.   Despite this his clerics maintain massive and well decorated temples in all major cities. They remain empty save for the occasional destitute retch until the coming of mass calamity. It is only on these days of natural disaster, looming invasion, or supernatural calamity that the citizens take note of Odysseus's temples. Pews are filled to capacity and even the halls are left without standing room, the faithful spilling out into the streets. In the presence of such an assembly his clerics beseech their god for assistance before turning to the masses delivering a sermon of hope and perseverance. Once the service concludes these priests demand all their congregation leave to sacrifice all they have to prevent the calamity, for without such sacrifice their prayers would be in vain.

Tenets of Faith

Odysseus embodies the saying that "the gods help those who help themselves". He demands that his followers endure and struggle to the full extent of their abilities before he will grant his blessing. He will however readily provide assistance in achieving that which is beyond one's means, after all other resources have been exhausted. There is nothing more favored by Odysseus than the individual who stands alone against the impossible.
