Tsukiyama
Tsukiyama, the moon-mount, is the most sacred place in the world for followers of the Cowled One, its lofty split-peak rivaling the great Zhangpa mountains to its north in height, its slopes covered in countless sakura trees, which causes the mountain as a whole to change colors every summer. Many have tried to reach its summit, but none have; the frozen bodies of countless devotees lie on its highest reaches, choked by lack of air or frozen to death by the icy winds. The Tsukimoto, the human inhabitants of this region, say that Death, or Sakurahime as they know her, dwells atop Tsukiyama in a great gallery of black wood, and that every person who has ever died becomes a tree on the slopes of the Mountain of Death.
Fauna & Flora
The slopes of the sacred Tsukiyama, even up to the very peak where the air becomes too thin to breathe, are covered in sakura trees. Very little else grows here, although in the more habitable climbs grass and weeds cover the forest floor. Animal life is similarly restricted, with only foxes and small game creatures to be found beneath the boughs of cherry wood. Its foothills are densely populated by the Tsukimoto themselves, while further up only a few scattered monasteries exist. As one climbs ever higher eventually only the Tengu dare the deathly peaks, but eventually even they can go no higher.
