Ishtakar Organization in Occident Setting | World Anvil

Ishtakar

Ishtakar ("the Twilight Realm" in Proto-Lathvo-Remaric was an ancient kingdom that thrived in what is now Varshalshka, its heartland now sunk beneath the waves of the Tetyj Khir . It was famous for its decadence and magical knowledge, particularly their control over the forces of life and death. They feature in many ancient legends, the Birth of Ur being the most notable in the West. For their mastery of undeath and for the creation of dragons they are counted as one of the Nightmare Empires.

History

Ishtakar was the greatest of the Giant Kingdoms to ever exist, and draws its descent from the Rune Giants of Lathva, who migrated south uncountable millennia earlier. The various tribes were united by a great warrior and sorcerer known only as "He Who Slew the Moon", referring to his conquest of death itself, an early form of lichdom that allowed him to guarantee his ghostly persistence in this world. He tired, however, of his crown and left his domain to the Ishtakaran people.
