Houses (commonly found)

A house that really anyone lives in, except for royalty who live in palaces or castles. Mansions could be considered housing here as well as the peasant homes that are simple and sturdy. They are commonly made of cut stone because it is sturdy and does not burn. Most houses are at least two stories, although there are a few that reach as high as 4. Most homes have wooden and shingled roofing. The roofs are sturdy and weatherproof that way.

Purpose / Function

To be shelter and livingspace for people. Some are made to inspire fear or awe, while others are simply to live in. It all depends on the people who own them.

Design

Rooms come in all shapes and sizes, and can hold many interesting things. Rooms are made of the same thing that the houses are made of, which is logical seeing that the room is inside of the house.

Entries

Doors are put in almost every room. Windows are used to let in light. They will usually have shutters over them, but no much else.

Sensory & Appearance

Most lighting comes from the sun or candles. Rooms are also often warm.

Denizens

Humans themselves use these houses, along with vampires, werewolves, and other assorted beings. After all, creatures need homes.

Contents & Furnishings

Depending on the room, many types of furniture can be found in the rooms. If it is a bedroom, there will be some sort of bed. Unless it is an enchanted house, most rooms are really normal.

Valuables

Again, variation depending on who owns it. Most peasants don't own anything of supreme value, but nobles often do. Rooms are made practical with special storage spaces if needed.

Normally there aren't any traps in a room. Unless you count small children's toys.

Special Properties

Alterations

Fireplaces were quickly added as soon as humans realized that it is hard to keep heat in a stone building. Chimneys were added so smoke wouldn't fill the home. Shutters were added to windows.

Architecture

Most houses are plain and unadorned on the outside. On the inside colorful rugs, paintings, and other things are placed around. Some doors are painted, though many still are not.

History

Houses have always been important to support human life. Stone houses are easily built and cheap, making them accessible to anyone who needs one.
