Captain Dmitri Jones

Dmitri Jones is a main character in Oblivion 1, 2, 3 and 4.   Backstory:   Dmitri Jones had a terrible life, being raised in poverty things only got worse when his mother died and he was kidnapped by an illusive cult. It took 4 years but at the age of fifteen he managed to escape and return to Metropololis but found that all of his remaining family were dead, so spent the next year living rough in the poorest part of the city. At the age of 16 he enlisted in The Imperial Army simply because it guaranteed food and shelter. However due to constantly clashing with the higher ups he was denied the higher ranks that he was entitled to with him leaving the base as a Squad Commander in charge of 50 men. However it was a different story in the field.   Dmitri rose quickly rough the ranks and was made a Captain by Commander Ervin Codsworth for his raid on successful raid on Rageshore, where he lead 100 men to strike the port city crippling the Bartazer fleet in the process.   After Dmitri disobeyed a suicidal order to attack the City of Karmes which would have ended up in a slaughter of his own men. He was discharged and declared an undesirable by The Mayor. Effectively declaring him an enemy of the state.   Dmitri is twenty-nine-years-old when he arrives at the manor.     Story:   Oblivion I:   Dmitri has spent years living in squalor and poverty, with his relief coming in the form of an offer to rob one fo the Wolfrick Co armouries. Which he does with ease, stealing a unique power source and wrecking the security system on his way out. A few days later, he is picked up from the slums by Vernon after escaping two thugs who were looking to collect the bounty that was on his head. The old butler then takes him to his employer, where Dmitri meets Alan's four son's who look at him like a beggar. After the four brothers leave the room, Dmitri gives the stolen power source to Alan Wolfrick, the owner of the company he had just robbed. When Dmitri asked why Alan didn't just take the item as he owned it, Alan replied that it would have raised to many questions and it was easier to have it seemingly stolen.   They are distracted when Dmitri senses that they were being watched, and his own self preservation kicks in and he makes for his weapon. Although Alan tells him to lower his weapon and calls for his second son to stop hiding and come out. Which Dave does and calls out his father on a technicality, causing Dmitri's view of the boy to increase. After this, Dmitri is offered a room in the manor, much to Vernon's horror, with the old butler being outright hostile to Dmitri.   After Derrick Jacobs is murdered, The Mayor quickly seizes on this and declares that Dmitri is the murderer, which causes Alan to step up his plans, bringing Dmitri outside and showing him to his new home, a large cave system inside the mountains to the rear of the manor. Alan then introduces Dmitri to Charlie Sparrow, a young scientist and instructs the two to work together. They do not see eye to eye, with Dmitri insulting Derrick which angers Charlie. But the scientist grudgingly agrees to help and equips Dmitri for his first mission against Lord Boris. Along with a new set of armour, Dmitri is given some more help in the form of BOT's, a crude invention into robotics by Wolfrick Co that Alan had 'borrowed' from his company.   During the mission against Lord Boris, Dmitri finds evidence of the Lord's intention to break into the tombs beneath the fortress, but fails to kill the old man when the bullet is split in half by Lord Boris' staff. With his cover now blown, Dmitri makes a run for it, his BOT's making a last stand allowing Dmitri to escape back up the mountainside.   Later on, back at the manor. Dmitri was debriefed by Alan before he tells Dmitri of his suspicions about who was inside the tomb, afterwards he fills Dmitri in on the old legends surrounding The Ravens.   Dmitri's next mission finds himself paired with Charlie, and initially it is hard to figure out who was more angry over this. Although they both agree, so whilst Alan headed south to deal with Lord Boris. Dmitri and Charlie headed to The Imperial City in order to break into The mayor's private office.       Oblivion II:       Oblivion III:       Oblivion IV:   After the attack on the manor Dmitri ordered his remaining BOT's to form the rear guard and then, along with Charlie, went down to the vault and retrieved all of the elemental gems they had in their possession, along with several documents relating to their investigations of The Answer. Before quickly heading to the jet, which Dmitri piloted although during one of his jokes, he is forced to stop when he notices The Imperial City up in flames.   When the plane runs out of fuel and the group land in Bartazar, Dmitri immediately guesses who the large bear that Dave had seen was, remembering Brutus from the previous year. Although the group are angered when Dmitri doesn't tell them this until they were locked inside the wear-bear's house. Due to knowing the wear-bear, Dmitri is able to negotiate with the man to allow them to stay. Later on, Brutus informs the Dmitri along with the rest of the group that they have to leave, due to the sightings of three black riders that were close on their tail.   The morning that the group are set to depart, Brutus meets with Dmitri alone to discuss their plans, and also passes on information that the enemy were starting to take children as prisoners from the resistance cells that they overran. This horrifies Dmitri but he decides to hold the information back until they crossed the mountains.   During the groups crossing of the mountains, Dmitri takes the lead, although they quickly run into problems of getting lost in the labyrinth of walkways and diversions on the mountain pass. It is then decided, much to Dmitri's unease, given the information that he had been given by Brutus, that Dave would take the lead. Leading to Dmitri spending most of the journey keeping the kid in sight. Later on Dmitri is savaged by a wolf, causing the group to split up with Charlie and Barca remaining behind to try and save Dmitri's leg. This however doesn't work, as he looses his leg after it became blackened from him contracting Lupusvenenum Morsibus, further crippling him. That night the three return to the main group, with Dmitri seemingly in good spirits, regarding his amputation, as he smiles when Jack makes the same comment that he himself made at the teen when he lost a body part. During the following discussion the group agree that they can no longer reach the mountain by winter, and so decide to look for refuge in the nearest northern town.   Dmitri along with Codsworth, Vernon and Charlie go to speak with the governor, Forrest McCoy, although Dmitri along with Codsworth witness the encounter between Jack and Erika from afar. The four and are allowed to enter the town hall after surrendering their weapons, when the guard at the door tries to take Dmitri's rifle that he had been using as a crutch, the captain asked if he would part a soldier with his walking stick, to which the guard grudgingly agreed to and let them enter. During this meeting, the governor agrees to let the group stay on the condition that they pull their own weight whilst they are there, when he asked the commander who couldn't. codsworth reluctantly gave Dmitri's name up, which offended the captain to his core, although the commander's reasoning was made clear that he wanted Dmitri to watch the house whilst the rest of the group were out, as Vernon was too old, and Nick and Martin to young to guard the building on their own. Before heading to their new home, Dmitri begins to sough up blood, the first stages of his illness, but is put at ease by Charlie saying that it was a natural result of the surgery he had undergone.   Dmitri spends most of his time cooped up inside the house, growing more restless to leave by the day. Despite this, he is one of the first to guess about the feelings that Jack has for Erika, giving Jack an all knowing look the morning after the two teens had spent the night together.   Things go from bad to worse for Dmitri when in the spring, his condition becomes worse, and he goes to see Charlie for some answers, and is not pleased to have been lied to about the fact that he had only a few months to live. After which, he left the house and headed towards the inn, determined to enjoy the last few months of his life. This is temporarily halted when he has to settle a situation with a newly arrived Brutus and Sjur the guard, who had insulted the wear-bear and was dangerously close to being killed. Cooler heads did prevail however, and Dmitri continued on his way to the inn, where he found Jack, Dave and Barca. With the two youngsters trying to find out how much Barca could drink before doing something stupid. It is at this point that Dmitri meets Erika and asks for the strongest drink in the house and then complements Jack on his taste in women, telling him to never to loose her, a statement that the kid would act on, when Erika returns with The Black Walk, Jack and Erika leave to discuss something in private and Dmitri downs the strong drink in one. By the time Jack gets back, Dmitri had downed four of the strong drinks in one go and had passed out, leading to Jack and Dave having to carry their unconscious friend back home.   When Brutus attacks, mutilates and kills Edvin, a local thug who had attempted to assault Erika for falling in love with an outsider. Codsworth returns from McCoy with orders that they are to leave the following day but one must remain to replace a north-man that Codsworth had killed when he lost his patience during the meeting. Dmitri is the first to try and convince Jack to not remain behind, but the teen insists and the deal is settled.   During the trip north, the group have to take a longer route, fearing that Dmitri who had only one leg would not be able to make the steep assents that the hills of Normanguard presents. much to the captains annoyance, as it meant that they were loosing time and food for his sake. About halfway towards the mountain, the group are attacked by a hoard, Dmitri ever the soldiers, fights on despite his injury and shoots from the ground. After the battle is won, the group realise that Martin had not returned from the woods where he had gone to hide during the battle on Codsworth's orders. Dave, Codsworth and Barca return from there search empty handed apart from Martin's gun, and a syringe.   Before the group can fully mobilise a plan to search the area, they are joined by Doraghek Kazburn, who although initially mistrustful of the group, agrees to take them to the mountain after finding out that two of their companions are children. Doraghek later takes the group to a destroyed town and explains that the town had been attacked and several children were unaccounted for. Remembering what Brutus had told him back at his home, Dmitri privately takes responsibility for what happened to Martin as he realises that his decision not to warn the group has cost them one of their members. Although after hearing about Dmitri's own past, Doraghek becomes more hopeful of the situation although Dmitri knows that what the kidnappers would likely do to Martin would be worse than killing the boy.   Upon arrival at the mountain, Dmitri along with the rest of the group meet King Fierhand for the first time, and are shocked to learn that the old king has made a deal with the enemy in order to protect his kingdom in exchange for turning away all outsiders. This appeared to be the case for the group, but Nick steps forward and calls Fierhand out on this fact. Which strangely works as Fierhand allows them to stay at his home at the risk of war with The Shadow.   The mountains resources were put to use on Dmitri and he was given a prosthetic leg so that he could assist in finding Martin and any others. Although they received intel, none turned out to be accurate, causing Dmitri to become more and more angry as he knew that time was not on their side. This co-insides with Dmitri along with Charlie, being used as a go between for Codsworth and Vernon, as neither was speaking to the other over what had happened to Martin on the road.   There is some success for Dmitri however, as he was able to save some of the intel they had gathered from The Answer when they had been investigating them, and one such document was a series of locations that he had been investigating. But when he went to present this new evidence to Doraghek, the dwarf told him that his father was shutting down the hunt. Although Dmitri guessed that it was the old king's advisors. Which didn't change anything as they were no longer going to be getting royal support during the hunt.   This news leads to Codsworth and Vernon having their largest row to date, Dmitri leaves the group for what will end up being the last time, partly to escape the arguing, but mostly as his disease was entering its final stages and he was now at the greatest risk of spreading it to others. Whilst in the wilderness, his suspicions of Eugene being alive could to reality as the former advisor to The Mayor comes to him in his self imposed exile and taunts the captain after finding out about Martin, as well as stating that he had come for the wind gem, but had quickly realised that the captain did not have the powerful object on him. Although Eugene tries to goad Dmitri into battle, the captain doesn't rise to bait and Eugene leaves informing the captain that whilst he is on the right path, it will be too late.   Dmitri however, pays this no mind, and continues to search for the missing member of the group despite his injury. This action however, severely weakens his already damaged body. And it is on this final mission that he meets his end, after being ambushed by a hoard and due to exhaustion, the captain fell onto a zombie, and inadvertently his own knife, which pierced the side of his body and he began to bleed out. However, in his final moments he was able to speak with the ghost of his mother one more time and died of his wound and disease shortly afterwards. His body was later found by Brutus, who sent him back to the mountain on his horse, trusting the animal to carry Dmitri to the mountain.   His body is entombed inside The Hall of Hero's, deep inside Normanguard, making Dmitri the first Imperial to buried inside the historic tomb, after his death Codsworth takes up the hunt for young Martin.     Powers/Abilities         Weapons/Items       Personality           Family Tree:
